If someone could point me in the right direction it would be hugely aprpeciated....Have recently had a full service and the crankshaft sensor replaced on my 2001 2.6 MV6. It may be purely coincidental, but shortly after I got it back, it is producing alot of white smoke/steam, most noticeably at running temp on tickover (it's constant). I don't seem to have lost any fluids and performance is not affected. Any ideas? Many thanks.

Combustion engines create condensation, and the Omega do produce quiet a bit. If you are not losing any water I would not worry too much mate. :y

Thanks for the reasurrance, I'm sure it's probably me being paranoid. It's just odd that I haven't had it to this extent before (owned 3 over a period of 12 years). Cheers for the advice.

You definately aren't losing water or oil?
-
No, don't seem to be. It's very odd because it's really 'chugging' it out even when red hot. No performance loss though either. It's due a cam belt change too, and I obviously don't want to be forking out for that, if there are deeper problems...will have to get this checked out first...like I say, I only started to notice it after service and crankshaft sensor replacement.

Low mileage too, 78k and well looked after.

Well whatever you do dont let your local garage convince you its the head gasket. The 2.6 & 3.2 have a metal head gasket and not seen one go yet, or even heard of one for that matter.
But more times then you could imagine have we heard garages charging a fortune to replace a head gasket that really did not need doing.

Will do, thanks for the advice...Will post the outcome....

If possible take some video and post it up.Might be easier for people to form an opinion then. :y

Hi ive had a bit of steam nothing to bad though . I hadnt used the car much for about two weeks at the beginning of the month but i was going out and starting it up everyday and letting it run for about 20 mins . One morning i went out and started it and i could hear a bubbling noise at the back of the car so went around the back and laid on the floor and noticed that i could hear water in the exhaust where the rear box meets the centre section theres a bend there. Mine was bad it was leaking out of the join even though its not rusty so check yours you might have the same it sound like ive got pint of water in mine.
-
Funny you should say that because I did hear a bit of a gurgling sound when I went round the back of it yesterday. However, this did only seem to be on first start up. Will check this out in a bit more depth tomorrow. Thanks for the help. Will try to sort out some video too.

Steam machine mig , mine does the same and no coolant loss ;)

Just to add a bit more listen to Darth loo knee and Albs as the V6 sometimes show signs of head gasket and 99.9% of the time its something else and as they say they have never heard of one going

mine steams like a goodun in the morning - clearer by the time I get to work :y
