We used to play for ages on TANKS in the local pub, trouble was if you got too energetic with the joy stick you could spill the ale. :y

My mis-spent youth was in a snooker hall, over a Burtons Taylors at the bottom of the road.
Used to think snooker was the be-all and end-all of my life.

Used to repair these as well as ping pong, asteroids, pacman and galaxian
Later on used to convert galaxian and pacman to donkey kong
Good old days 16 lads in a workshop, loads of banter, late nights out drinking and curries
Still good friends with a couple of them as well.

I can tweak the Space Invaders ROM to allow 2 missiles on screen at the same time, makes it so much easier to keep going level after level :)

Do u remember boot hill with the two cowboys great two player game..
-
Cafes and pinball and then pubs, Space Invaders, Asteroids and my favourite Galaxians.
IMHO it was the basic graphics and sound to support great game play that has made these games classics. :y :y :y

Yup, got that as well.

I've played all the old stuff but the console I loved best was the SNES. It was the first one to keep me up all night.

back in the day there were more than a few studios that had glass topped space invader machines in the "artist lounge" , they all had funny little straight line scratches all over the top and were rarely actually functional as games....
;D

You should have seen the table tops at CBS records in Soho Square. The cleaners couldn't wait to get in in the morning. They used to go home high as kites...at half seven in the morning. ;D
