Post by: mathewst on 03 March 2012, 15:04:26
Can anyone share some light what this bloody pipe is for and should it be connected somewhere instead of being blocked like this

That's the problem Paul, cannot see clearly, somewhere behind the engine

Bearing in mind my recent problems, it looks like the last leak off pipe from #6 injector. Under normal circumstances that should be nothing more than a rubber cap, however, these are known to soften with age and a lot of people have done the same thing, block the end off, I used a normal size connecting pipe and bent it double then secured with a tie wrap. As long as it doesn't leak fuel then you will have no problem, if it does then it will leak down the back of the engine onto the bellhousing, thence onto the clutch face giving you oooooodles of slip when you boot it!

I am going to experiment with a harder nylon pipe, heat the ends until soft then pop them on and freeze them with plumbers spray to harden them in place.

A better pic, if you can get it would be from directly over # 5 & 6 injectors, that way I can confirm 100%.
