Hi, fault code P0170 fuel trim bank1 keeps coming up after 60-70 miles. I have sprayed everything with brake cleaner and no external air leaks show up. I have had the cat and oxy sensor recently changed for other reasons.Suspect something sticking, any ideas
-
what is the fuel pressure like? after the engine cuts out check the pressure.
-
Engine don't cut out just hesitates slightly at high revs and the fuel filter has already been changed, cheers Andy

Lazy lambda? Are you anywhere near a code reader capable of live data, or one of the tech2 guys on here?
-
Scratch that, it's a 2.2. Maf?
-
It'll be the MAF. Around 100 EUR for a new one and make sure you get genuine which is Bosch. You can find the numbers printed on the MAF, put that Bosch code to google and pick.
-
Ok then anew maf it's gonna be,can get a used one for £25 guaranteed or a new one for £38

If the 'used' one is a GENUINE oem part & you know the person selling it will honour any guarantee, then it may be a good stopgap until you can afford a brand new GENUINE maf. As for the 'new one for £38', you will be wasting your money imho :-\ :y
-
Are these aftermarket oem's no good
-
Fit a used MAF and have done over 100 miles
miles since with no engine light on.An added bonus is that I'm now getting an extra 6mpg more!!!!!
-
Where did you get it mate? Could do with a guaranteed 2nd hand genuine MAF for my car, don't fancy paying over £100 for a new one :-\
-
I had the exact same problem for months, turned out it was the MAF,it was only replaced 8months ago (genuine) so didnt last long and was convinced it wasnt causing the problem until i had a live reading done by Kevin Wood (good man!!)
Bought a second hand genuine MAF from fleabay,£40,still working after 1000miles and counting!! :y

Hi Johnnycool, found one on ebay but I'm sure if you search the various auction sites you will find one.........ps. Due to the time it took me to fix the faulty MAF it's now burnt the cat out(😡😡😡😡😡😡,)

The lamdas should be able to overcome any over/under fuelling, but its has to make assumptions on the air coming in. Limp-home modes are just that, to get you home. Not for constant ongoing use, where further problems may be caused.

Cos the Maf was reading wrong it was running on weaker mixture than normal which overheats the cat, fault code says cat conv threshold not reached(basically cat efficiently) Still runs ok but light on
-
had same happen with mine, combination of faulty maf and warped exhaust manifold finished the cat off... :-\.all cured now... :)
