My 17 year old got a call today from Broad Oak MINI, they want him there at weekends and bank holidays just to start off with. Only for an interview, but it's looking good as they contacted him first after receiving his CV from BMW in Ashford. Happy days, he loves cars, he loves selling cars and I've got every faith that he can do well :y :y :y. Great news after being ignored by loads of people he's sent CV's too!

sadly in all professions now all the effort you put into applying for positions more often than not you never get a response

Nice one Del, there are that many people out there looking for work that your lad has done well to get an interview. Hope all goes well for him :y

Great news Del, well done to the lad. :y :y
Our eldest (16) is looking for work, but his autism isn't helping at all.
He did manage to successfully apply to work in Blockbuster and duly turned up for his first day, just for the manager to say he couldn't have the job after all because he's only 16......turns out you have to be 18 in order to sell/rent 18 rated games/movies ::)
-
Wouldn't you think some dimwit would have checked that and explained it to him rather than giving the lad false hopes.

Good news, Del. :y

nice to see a young lad willing to work, hope it turns into what he wants :y

Poor excuse imo......my local supermarket employs 16/17 yo's on the tills.....if someone tries to buy alcohol for example....the 16/17 yo just yells "alcohol' and the nearest staff over 18 either says 'yeah or no' .......simples ;)

That pisses me right off. Something like that can really knock your confidence.
My lad has got aspergers and I'm not looking forward to him having to find work in todays market when he leaves school/college.
His lives in a dreamworld so I suppose politics is always an option.
