Title: Remove electric rear windows
Post by: cableguy on 08 March 2012, 19:55:40
Ok. I have stripped a car of its interior and the rear has electric windows. Mine has manual windy windows so i want to upgrade  :y

Any who, the electric windows in the donor car are up, there is no way of getting them down. Is it possible to still remove them?

You`ll need the driver`s door loom from donor car, looms from both rear doors, rear doorcards, rear & driver`s leccy switches. To remove motors just whip doorcards off and drill out the rivets holding the motors

If these motors are the same as used in the Carlton (I imagine they are) you can open up the motor control box and manually wind them down, can't remember exactly what tools to use but I know that I had to do the opposite when mine failed in the down position and it started to rain! Didn't take more than 10 minutes so it's do-able.
When your refitting them, if you want to, use small nuts and bolts instead of rivets, make it a bit easier to remove them if they fail in the future.
