As some of you know I swapped out the glow plugs on Burt the other week & what a difference. Because they lose they're strength over a very gradual period you don't notice this.
I only have to warm just the once now. For what they cost I fully recommend changing them if you find warming more than twice :y :y

Must be honest, the BMW 2.5TD lump in my workhorse coughs a little from just one pre-heat on a cold morning. Starts almost before you turn the key, with two pre-heats!
Another job to the list, I guess ::)

You may find one or two of them have failed (easily measured from relay box, should be about 1ohm each). Though I'd always replace all 6 - about £40 and 1hrs work.

If you still have the car in by next winter you'll wish you'd done them! ;)

Well TB is our resident tractor expert, I might just hand him a set of glow plugs at the lakes meet, while I drink tea and watch him do them ;D

Infact I actually paid a guy to work on my car whilst it was cold :y

Was referring more to car related things going wrong in general, in winter months, rather than specifically glow plugs :y
Eg, if it breaks, it's going to do it when the weather is bad, and you rely on the car!

Its called preventative maintenence, and you do it in the summer for a reason ;)

If I can bend down by then, its an easy job. If I can't, it'll me me doing the supervising ;)
