Title: I nearly had a Bazil Fawlty day today
Post by: Darth Loo-knee on 09 March 2012, 23:39:03
My Sony mobile phone has decided to stop working. So we Mrs. Loo-knee & I took it to a phone shop about 10 miles away. Off we went in her Landie. Pulled up outside the shop, got out of the car pressed the key fob, nothing. Tried again a few times then gave up put the key in the and locked the doors. Thinking it may need a new battery as we go into the phone shop.
We came out pressed the button on the key fob, nothing. So opens the door with the key... alarm starts whaling, lights flashing... put the key in the ignition the car would not start and the noise would not stop from the alarm.... at this time I was seriously thinking of kicking the car in and found slamming the door the next best option....
Had to walk 2 miles down the road to find a shop that did keys. Now here has been bloody freezing today, it just happens I did not take my coat and was wearing a t shirt... just typical...
Get to the shop he takes it to bits and says "This is normal for Rover key fobs I have done another this morning!" so after cleaning it etc he puts it on this machine thing that tells him its working. So swaps the key fob for £25 then we walk the two miles back.
Press the button car opens, starts a treat... We had decided on our trek back we should drive to the shop and buy a new fob so we don't have this trouble again "I dont want to be stuck, it always happens to me!" I am sure you have heard this too...... so park outside the shop. Ask the guy to do us a new fob and program it to the car etc.... Pull it into out car park and I will do it there. The car didn't obviously want to do as it was told as the thing would not start again!!
Two new key fobs we had as we "Dont want to get stuck, and if one goes we have another!" £150 lighter.... I am not looking on ebay or anywhere else I will probably cry  ;D

Rear coil spring snapped on the Beemer yesterday as I pulled on the drive with the granddaughter, £160 per spring because it's M-Sport as opposed to standard  :o :o
