Title: Fantasy road car
Post by: feeutfo on 10 March 2012, 00:57:35
Guess you all saw the Eagle speedster on top gear? And the similar Scimitar project.

With that in mind, which car would you say was most deserving of similar? Taking it a bit further, what body shape or basic car would you start with, what chassis would handle best to plonk that shape on, and what engine would you fit in it...?

Add interior if you wish I guess. Gadgets and gizmos etc. bit like your fantasy race track with all the best corners built into one circuit, what would be your fantasy road car? With all the best features handling and looks built into one ultimate vehicle.

I guess keeping it real world might be good. A camper van body shape on an F1 chassis and engine is never going to happen  ;D

My personal favourite engine would be an Ls3 v8, perhaps you might have guessed! But what chassis/body shape to put it in....? :-\

almost very simple.

LC drive train,   Mv6 Estate

job done.

but an old fart softie in me,  would like  a coachbuilt senator 7 seater estate, ....    but again, Lotus Carlton engine/box/diff etc....

Black omega estate.....

Mods.......Small block chevy lump (returning 30mpg) with 6 speed manual
bin all sensors, cdi's, valves, egr's, hbv's everything.....
replace all suspension parts with precision machined parts that lasted 200,000 miles

just drive it and wash it..........

I think it would be nice to be able to do mods to the car without needing to just keep up with maintenance....

Stick lpg on that so I could afford to run it and that would be pretty much perfect  :y :y

Car - Victor FE VX490
Engine - Merc/AMG V12 Bi Turbo from a CL65 AMG
Suspension - Lotus Carlton but would like a Noble M12 suspension set up but using a VX490 car with the longer wheelbase & a lot more extra weight wouldn't be as sharp
Interior - New Jag XJ with all the toys  :y

Difficult, as one half of me - the mid life crisis half - would say a 2 door sportster, small engined, maybe turbo'd

Then the sensible side would say an effortless 4 door saloon. Of which the Omega fits the bill, it just needs a bigger engine

How about a 4 litre v8

would that fit the bill

I think this is the best combination of engine and chasis..

and a note , if you are thinking of V8 , imo best combination is already in sale

in the name of E39 M5.. its a legend car.. and with respect to road handling, comfort, acceleration and economics, I would seriously consider it also..

Trouble is, in the UK, to own a BMW badged car is a statement that you are a self-centred, arrogant, stupid, thick, blinded idiot.

Well... "Yes but..." I should say. Last I looked there's not tooo many toys in it? :-\
No auto close windows on the blipper for instance... No rear blind. And all those touches the omega has.
