i lokcked myself out with keys in the ignition and slammed the locked dooors and standing right infront of tesco called RAC for help and said will arrive in 3 hours. Any idea how to to get in. Thanks.

Been there, done that after a week of omega ownership :-X Ended up smashing side window.

Not sure about the facelift but in a pre facelift you can open the door with a wire coat hanger, or similar, and a steel rule, you may manage without the latter......which is probably how the RAC will get in...... ;) ;) :-X :-X

I managed to lever out the rear quarter window withou breaking it, with a couple of flat bladed screwdrivers, then popped the rear lock and opened it. This only works if it's not deadlocked. You could pop in Asda and get some screwdrivers

Once again we, get the vandals to the fore!
Break a window. It has ONE thing in it's favour, and that is it's quick. Otherwise, you've made a mess, got an insecure car, and if you broke a quarterlight thinking it's the smallest and therefore the cheapest to replace you are in for a shock. Plus it's much harder to fish the keys out through such a small gap.
Best thing is to have a spare key. Somewhere safe, and certain.
If not, then you should have!
Failing that, call a local automotive locksmith. They'll get in without any damage, possibly by cutting a new key(which you've just proved you need) for a similar cost of replacing a window.
Finally, if you have the car pass, take a photo of it, and keep it on your phone. Then, you'll get a new key, with no trouble, and on the spot.

If you've slam locked it you have one thing in your favour... It's not deadlocked ;) ;)

Using a piece of wire to get in is hardly vandalism, and Geoff spoke off 'popping' the rear quarter, not braking it, and in my case I don't have a handbag to put a spare in.... :D :D

All sorted by RAC now. It was a trick to open without breaking window or damaging anything.
I normally keep a remote in my jacket but today since the weather was nice I left my jacket Indian as well.

And, of course, there's also the consideration that an Auto Locksmith on a Saturday night is probably certainly more expensive than a replacement window from a breaker

I expect they used a slightly more sophisticated version... A lock-out kit contains a selection of tools for just that situation and instructions (although mine is 12 years old now ::))

can we just take a minute and LOL at the predicament of having locked yourself out of your car away from home - then the suggestions of what to do
"try using a coat hanger" - i dont carry them in my pocket!
"try a steel rule" - its at work
"try the spare key/a fob" - its in my jacket, in the car
"try ringing the rac" - my phones in my jacket

I have one that's about half that. Most of the cars in the last 10 years give a procedure that might work(have you ever managed to get an up and over tool through the weather strip, under the window, into the car, opened the dor and got the damn thing back out again?), but most of them suggest that deadlocks apply. And once that's the case, you can pull all the locks, handles or rods as much as you like, and you won't open the door. Vauxhall deadlocks work really well. Digging about inside a door skin on a modern car with all the electrics inside doesn't strike me as a particulalrly good idea. Plus most of them have lock mechs shielded from such intrusions.

Nope to the up and over ::) Actually.... I managed it once ;) Usually found another route. The Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra had a nice easy one :y
Vx deadlocks are good but they can be bypassed reasonably easily ;) Although it's rarely "damage free" :-\
