Hi all, the wifes Corsa is struggling to pull away in first, once it gets going its ok, untill the next junction.
any ideas?????
Jon :y

What happens? Is it clutch slipping or the actual first gear not seeming to work?
-
I don't know, just went round the block then, pulled off ok, a bit of a struggle to put in to 2nd, then when I pulled off at next junction it struggled in 1 st again. could be clutch problem I guess.
-
Do the revs rise but no movement?
-
I'm getting movement, but feels like its about to or does cut out, you can gently tease it to pull away, then bingo, we're off as normal.
-
So not the revs rising rapidly with little movement?
OK... Can't remember if they are cable or hydraulic clutches on the Corsa but it sounds like a clutch issue. Could be the operation of the clutch or could be that the clutch internals are hanging up. :-\
If hydraulic, my first point of call would be to check the fluid and bleed it ;)
-
Thats me stumped straight away :-\, I will have to explore a Corsa site for engine pics lol.

Is the struggle actually pulling away or finding first and second gears,if its the latter there is a modified gear linkage that cures that for about £50 plus fitting which is easy
-
Just a thought but are the brakes binding??? my mother has got a corsa and sometimes the handbrake can stick a bit...just a thought
-
Sounds more like the gear linkage is shot and your pulling away in third not first as the gear shift indicates
Cheers

Indeed, whats the speed at certain rpm's in first......repair kit for the linkage is cheap enough and easy to fit.
