Title: Is Hollywood really scrapping the barel of film ideas now!!!!

Just read some 'entertainment news' and apparently Hollywood will be doing a new (I use the word new loosely ::)) Lone Ranger film.

Personally I have ask why.  And you just know they'll 'sex it up' with loads of special effects ::)
Wonder if Tonto will end up being a woman this time though ::)

IMHO have been for sometime, too scared because of the size of AAA budgets to make much that is not xyz hit 243, xyz hit 244 etc, unless they have a lot of trust in a director who has a good script.

To me most remakes seem to have a poorer story with more over the top acting and special effects.

The other problem with re-makes is that the script and story were right for the era they were written for, as they capture the moment, but now just don't work as times have moved on. The Avengers film is a good example of that.
