You can probably tell by now that I'm no mechanic, but following a failed MOT, my mechanic tells me that a rear suspension spring has broken and will cost £90 to replace to get the MOT pass. Furthermore he recommends that I get both sides done at the same time (double the money).
Does this sound right guys?
Cheers...

would recomend it as when one side gose its not long and the other side can go. and you dont want to be on long drive when it go's.
and £90 is not bad i payed more than that, as did not have time to doit my self.

Cheers freecall, would you think the price is about right?

Yes. Although... Does he say which springs particularly? There's some real crap about thats not worth fitting.
It is always recomended that stearing and suspension components be changed in axle pairs. Where applicable. Uneven performance can result. In your case, a lopsided car.

mine was over £200 so £90 each side is not bad.

He said that the 'heavy duty' ones were about £90 each fitted...
the other one look fine though...?

Depends what's on there currently. Noticing yours is an mv6, which if face lift, runs a 15 mill lower ride hight than stock , you may find the front will be noticeably higher with heavy duty springs.
If pre/mini face lift, standard springs are used with different shocks than standard.
I'd suggest Kyb as a minimum quality.

I would fit KYB or Boge, the facelift MV6 ones are lower than normal
