Title: Temperature gauge going crazy.
Post by: Elliott19864 on 20 March 2012, 18:39:03
I have noticed lately when I slow down at lights or completely stop my temperature gauge goes up and down like a yo yo, upto 100 and the back down to 95, almost revs like the rev gauge.

The fans also kick in but switch off after 10 seconds or so, it's like the cars overheating but it's not.

I travel 16 miles to work and the gauge always sits perfect its just when I stop.

Dodgy temperature sensor?

Sods law it does this when i put it up for sale, I am considering scrapping it now but it's such a good car!

They do tend to rise quite a bit when sitting in traffic, it shouldn't go above 100 though.

Similar as mine does , but mine seems to do it more when its on a run then bounces up and down on tickover and revs >:(  haven't got to the bottom of the root cause yet but changing my thermostat this weekend and the coolant crossover pipe seals .
