Title: door card fittings.
Post by: ffcgary1 on 25 March 2012, 17:07:24
If this has been asked before i apologise now,
so will prefacelift estate rear doorcards fit the facelift estate rear doors or have changes been made to stop this from being done.
I ask this as i have sourced some non rusty doors from a late car and wish to get rid of the rusty pre- F/Lift doors.

Thank you.
Gary.

I think the doors are the same. Biggest problem is the rubbing strip, as PFL strips are dear (£70 a pop), and don't remove well...

The doors i want to fit are the later F/L  and the rubbing strips will be removed when they are painted anyway, but as long as the early doorcards will fit that is good enough for me. Hopfully the later rubbing strips wil be a bit cheaper, but prob by not much :(

FL strips come off easy, only bolted :y

PFL are stuck, and PITA to remove, almsot impossible without damage

inside pull handles are different but personally I would fit f/l trim on doors and f/l rear bumper and then colour code black trim on front bumper to match :y

I think he wants the superior prefacelift doorcards ;)

Trouble with facelift strips is matching the front/rear bumpers. Rear can be done with the pig ugly facelift rear bumper, but front is different. Changing bumpers makes insuring and selling a problem as well.
