Title: Rad Drain Cock
Post by: HockeyDave55 on 27 March 2012, 19:15:38
Hi, just wanted to share this....
I just picked up the new drain cock from VX, fitted it and it leaked worse than the old one! Scratch head, scratch head... How can this be? I ask myself.... I removed the new part and other than an extra rib and the colour, I can't see anything????
I then swapped the o-rings from the new part to the old and voia-la! No leak!  :y
Hear's a pic...

Might just be the photo, but it looks like the distance between the two o-ring seats is less on the black one than the red one?

I found the same but the o-rings on my old red one were sha**ed - swapped the o-rings from the new to the old and no leaks.
Agreed the major difference is in the positioning of the o-ring seats.

Maybe somebody should tell VX that the part is wrong seems fine now but it's a bugger as I only changed the coolant a short while ago... :/

Ha! Come to think of it, I could've got a new engine! "it's the part number shown!" lol
I work at Nissan development centre and get feedback from dealers all the time, this is an issue that is easy to fix..... Oh, it's good in the end... For me at least....
