Title: Gear shift
Post by: Bob G on 28 March 2012, 13:52:51
Hope I can explain this properly, twice today on starting the car I have pulle on the lock on the auton shift to release the shift to select gears, and twice it was stuck and not moving.  In the end I had to call AA, who got in and by forcing stick forward released it.  Suggested that on getting home I leave it in N but you have to put it in P and relse the catch to get keys out. So what it my problem?

Well, the AA guy should Please read the manual. >:( No need to force the stick, as there's a little catch under the gearstick boot that can be used to release the lever in an emergency.

Do the brake lights work? Often a failed brake light switch can cause this.
