Took 3 goes and half an hour queueing to fill the car up at eleven last night >:( I normally put £30 or so in, but resorted to fill the tank in order to at least try and work the next couple of days :-\
Nearest fuel this morning was five miles away, and another half hour queue FFS, just to top off the minibus I used this morning so that it can work the day without issue. Bet that garage has run out now too >:(
I wouldn't be at all suprised if those oppsing knob heads at unite hadn't planned for the government to issue that statement yesterday just to create some overtime for the drivers in order to make it look like the union was actually capable of doing something useful, which we all know they're not. self-abusers >:(
On a side note I wonder how long it'll be before some twit tries to put lpg in to a petrol tank ::)
-
Govt needs to knock 5p a litre of duty for one week only starting from Monday, that would really hack people off.

What an excellent idea ::) ::) ::)
-
All the same here , streems of cars all filling up panicking even before they call a strike ::)
-
Oh, break! That reminds me. Westfielded it to work this morning and doubtful I've got enough to get home. :-\
Now, do I use that fuel getting home, or pi$$ing about finding fuel? :-\
These idiots panic buying are all well and good, but it's a right pain in the crack if you've got a 27L fuel tank. >:(
-
.. of course, if the garages gave a cr@p about their customers, they'd be rationing it at this point so there's some for everyone, not raking in as much cash as they can, selling out, then pushing their premium fuels, then selling out of that, etc... >:(
-
Just finished a job...plenty of juice in the car...but had to try three routes to get home cuz the morons had gridlocked Hazlemere queueing for petrol >:( >:( >:( >:(
Probably trying to squeeze a couple of quids worth in. >:( >:( >:(
MORONS, MORONS, MORONS >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Sorry...rant over :y

Crikey, what a tiny one you have, Kevin! ;) ;D Reminds me that I saw a Kirkham Cobra recently with a 42gallon LeMans fuel tank.. probably US Gallons but that's still 150 litres, imagine what that costs to fill..
I should probably take the MR2 out and fill it up as well, that way I'll have a second car to use .. albeit one with comically frightening handling at the moment.
Of course I notice that fuel has magically gone up 1-2p overnight. Still, being an ardent supporter of the market economy I guess I have to reap my own supply & demand sewings..

He probably gets just as poor range as me, though. ;D

Ok, so I've got my petrol home.
Now where am I supposed to store it all?
The bath is already full of stamps and pasties

Last night I went up to Wolverhampton to look at PaulCdx's cooling issues.
After leaving his place, I went onto the red. Had no LPG either.
I literally was almost stranded. I could either queue at Asda for like, 2 hours, the queue's were mad.. or get on the motorway and wing it to the services.
I chose the latter, and put in enough to get me home.
At home, Sainsbury's and Tescos were rammed, BP was dry and hence closed! I tried waitrose - they only had super unleaded.
Given the situation, I brimmed with Super unleaded, at £1.38 a litre. Thought that was as good as it got. I also brimmed with LPG at 80.9.
I wouldn't usually brim the petrol tank, but given all the selfish idiots filling cans etc, I thought I may as well at least have some in the tank while I had managed to get to a pump, and it was available.
The forecourts were all covered in petro with people over filling cans. I also saw one plank filling a 5 litre spring water container. :-\

Richie that's brilliant ;D ;D ;D

Dorset police have just called for ALL the petrol stations in the county to temporary close due to the panic buying and disruption on the roads :o
What is in with the f*ckwits in this country ?
Since when has anybody ever taken notice of what the goverment says anyway ::)

Petrol in 1 garage in chelsea is 1.58 a litre.

Indeed - my mum walked to Sainsbury this morning as she always does and found that the place was completely gridlocked with people trying to get into the petrol station which in turn jammed the people trying to get to Sainsbury for shopping, which in turn spilled out onto the main road, which in turn.. well, you get the picture ;D

The retards of this country have handed the tanker drivers victory without them having to lose a day's pay. In fact, I wouldn't mind betting they are cashing in driving every hour their tacho lets them at the moment. >:(
-
Plenty of petrol and no queues at all here :) :) I did fill up at 05.00 ;D ;D
And yes my tank was empty ;)

Totton, Southampton. Cued for ten minutes. Few cars around but not much more than a normal Saturday morning. Police officer in the garage asked a few of us if we really needed fuel. I got chatting to him. I was empty (25miles showing) however he did say a old duffer (my words not his) Cued then managed to squeeze a whole 4 quid in.
-
You can all thank the media and government for this! >:( The media just mention the words fuel and strike in the same sentence and the whole rather country rushes to the pumps. Then you get these bloody idiots politicians advising everyone to stock up with fuel in jerry cans and store them at home!! :o Word fail me for God's sake.........the strike hasn't even been confirmed yet!! ::)
No doubt we'll now see a further increase in the price of fuel thanks to this little charade, and it won't go down when it's all over either - thieving barsteward garages! >:( >:( >:(

Can you imagine if we actually do run out of fuel for real............... :o

Well, managed a tank of 95 RON weasel pee from Morrisons on the way home from work. Got home, dodging the bits of the map where there's pinking, drained it into my government approved :P 20L jerry can and went to the local garage and filled it again with Super Unleaded.
Garage had one normal unleaded pump, a couple of super, and no diseasel.
There were almost fisticuffs over the 95 RON pump. Nobody wanted to pay the extra few pennies for the super, so I drove straight up there and brimmed it.
Now, imagine you drive a tractor. You're on vapour. No local garages have diseasel any more. You pull into one and find the diseasel pumps closed. Do you:
1) Nurse it gently on to the next petrol station. Maybe they'll have some.
2) Flail around the forecourt shouting obscenities for 30 seconds before betting back in your L200 Warrior (W**ker, more like) and tear off in a cloud of black smoke, leaving 20,000 miles worth of rubber on the forecourt and nearly flattening another customer as they walk out of the shop.
It's a tough one, I'll grant you that. ::)
-
Much the same up this way today.
Two backwoods county towns in rural Fifeshire one with a Tesco fuel stop and the other with a Shell (and a Morrisons, but couldn't be arsed to explore that far up country...) and both either out of fuel or queued back to hell and beyond.
Drove past the LARGE Q at Tesco's and drove very gingerly southwards playing that really fun game (whilst in a customer car) of balance the yellow fuel light duration glowing like a searchlight at you with your personal needle/guage-v-range guestimate.
I won.
Got to BP at destination with no Q (but elevated prices, normal for that garage) and slung a tenner in for goodwill.
Getting too old for these guessing games, I reckon!! ;D

I filled up on Monday, as I do every week, mostly half to three quarters needed to do this.... :'( :'( :'(
Went to pick up Miss Vamps from Ice Skating tonight and passed one petrol station that only had one car in it, a few miles up the road and a big station with small ques ::) ::) ::) Tomorrow is pay day for many people, so garages should be even more busy,i need fuel to get to and do my work so will assume that on Saturday things will have calmed so can top up then, and keep it topped up as much as I can. I have already told work that if a strike goes ahead I can manage a week and then will have to take holiday or un paid leave....... >:( >:( >:(
I don't do politics but things are getting really bad for me, all the time more money going out but no pay rise for years, and now I have had a letter to say my Mortgage is going up despite no interest rise.......there has to be a point where the average person can not continue to pay their way.............. >:( >:( >:( :'( :'( :'(
-
Same here Vamps, i have a fifty mile round trip to get to work and back, so i have also told my company that if the fuel strike goes ahead and i am unable to get an adequate supply then i to will have to have either unplanned holiday entitlement or unpaid leave, they have been brilliant with there response saying that if the worst comes to the worst then i can have a lend of a company van, because we have our own diesel storage tanks at work (bus depot i work in the engineering dept) and we should be uneffected by the strike.
Top response i thought.
-
Luckily had no issues on the bike earlier in the week, could have created issues with just a 20L tank!
-
just driven past 3 filling stations, shell, morrisons, tesco....normal prices and normal queues!
-

Likewise, I'm hoping that some semblance of 'sanity' (or what passes for it, in this country) has resumed by Saturday. The Omega is mostly full right now, but a trip to Stansted Airport and back on Saturday morning is going to pretty much empty it..
So I took the MR2 to work today, despite the rattly clutch and woeful alignment (damn seized TRE locknut >:().. still the roads were relatively quiet so it made for a nice top-down drive in :)
-
Was getting very concerned .....
I needed a gallon for the lawn mower .....
so went and filled up the car with LPG then went via Sainsbury's on the way home ... expecting long queues and derisory comments over 5 litres ...
No queues, normal prices, had a laugh with the lass behind the desk over what was the lowest sale this week .. and it seems my 5 litres was nowhere near it !!
Looks like all the numpties now have full tanks and life will revert to normal for a while :)
-
Just need a couple of days for their tanks to get down to 1/2 full, then some more rumblings from the unions. ;D
-
There are three garages local to me.
Tesco had two pumps working today out of 12 and also had huge queues.
Shell had no fuel at all.
The local jet was fully operational. So I filled up SWMBO's Bavarian Muck Wagon, only £83 :'(
