my friends vauxhall zafira 2.0 dtvi has been diagnosed as having a faulty fuel pump and will need replacement :'( but has been also been told that the new fuel will need to be recoded. :-\
is this correct :-\ and if so can this be done by tech 2 ??
any advice would be much appreciated :y
thanks noel.

Tech 2 will do it but it will also have to be 'divorced' from the old car too if it's second hand. If it doesn't come divorced, you will need at least the car passes from the old car and his Zafira to program it.

not being thick but what do you mean by divorced :y

Same as decoded. Always remembered it as divorced and married thats all! It'll have to be decoded from the old car before it can be coded to the new one.

do you mean decoded whilst still connected to the old car sorry for the 40 questions :y
-
Ask away!
Makes it easier if it's decoded from the old car whilst it's still in it but as far as I know it can be decoded when it has been fitted to the new car as long as you have the car pass with the security code on it. Either way, it has to be decoded one way or another before it can be paired to the Zafira :y

thanks you for your patience but is now very clear to me :y
with thanks noel ;)

Why does it need a new pump tho? Hard to start 1st thing ?
Also it can be over £2000 for 1 supplied and fitted by vx,if hard to start its often diagnoised ad faulty pump, most of the time its the leak of pipes that go brittle and leak air into the fuel system :y

thanks for the response guys. they have had the fuel pipes cleaned and car is starting first time and a lot more responsive ;).
not sure if it was the leak off pipes that where cleaned, but have passed this info on :y.
Thanks noel :y
