I have my car in the garage to get the friction plates changed (oil leak contamination). parts were sat on the counter this morning all showed as ok.
I had a phone call later in the day to advise that after stripping the clutch it was not a standard clutch. ( I will get part numbers tomorrow)
Has anyone else had this issue for a manual gearbox?
could the fact it was ex fire service had anything to do with it or that its the limited edition 97 plate tourer?

There are different gearboxes (and therefore clutches) for different applications :y
Andy C will be able to clarify what's what :y

If its an ex -service car you might have big problems. We had the local ARV Omega in our workshop a few years back and we tried every clutch listed but in the end we had to send the whole unit back to GM to it matched.
Turns out some cars left the factory with non standard clutch assy, most were service cars, Police,Fire, RPS. and it turns out that it was some sort of Cadillac Clutch but GM wouldn't give us the part numbers , just sent us a new clutch kit.
This could be your problem but i've no idea how you might get around it
