The correct one of coarse, but if you have a half decent socket set then you should have it  yes ?? called spark plug remover.  :y

Yeah but there are at least 2 different spark plug sizes! Cannot remember as mine has the platinum plugs and they seem to last for years. Think it might have been the smaller size.

You'll need "the smaller one", 16 mm? The bigger being 21 I think the smaller is 16  :-\

try this next time
loosen the plug of with a spanner then use a piece of hose[i find hose pipe is good] just push it over the top of the plug and away you go.this is also good for fitting the plug as you can feel the threads.

Very unhelpful as there are two sizes, 10mm & 14mm

I expect the confusion here is because spark plug wrenches/socket sizes are not the size of the hex head but rather (if memory serves) named for the size of the threads of the spark plug.

e.g. I have a spark plug wrench right here, it says '10mm' in big letters on it - the hex head end is considerably larger than 10mm ;) but it's for a '10mm' spark plug. The equivalent 'normal' socket is probably somewhere around 16mm.

Just 2? I'd to buy yet another size when I wanted to remove the plugs from my TDM  ;) ;)

There's (at least) 8, 10, 12, 14 and 18mm plugs (thread size) made by NGK  :y (probably others out there, too)

[edit] Not that I've ever seen an 8!

well unless he has a micro light engine it will not be a size 10mm spark plug.

True enough, they should be 14mm according to the list I'm looking at (e.g. NGK BKR6EK)

And the original question was as title says, SOCKET SIZE and the socket is nowhere near 10 or 14 mm.

And the original question was as title says, SOCKET SIZE and the socket is nowhere near 10 or 14 mm.

But again, if you pick up a spark plug socket you will see that the size written on the socket corresponds to the thread size of the spark plug. So yes, the 'socket size' is 14mm assuming you're using the proper tool - a spark plug socket - and not a regular deep socket.

Well, all four spark plug sockets I have, of two different brands, are marked with 16mm and 21mm accordingly without any indications of thread diameter.

And all mine are marked corresponding to the size of plug they remove - thread size.
