Well I am a little confused I purchased a new shock absorber after having the car put through a diagnostic at Vauxhalls and having a health check. It was one of the major problems along with a crack in one of the rear springs have both ready to be changed on Friday but after looking at the shock absorber on the car it does not seem the correct one that has been supplied. The one on the car has a wire coming from it but the new one a Kayaba 343216 has no connection or wire from it. Is it the correct replacement part for my 2.6 V6 Elite any input would be greatfully appreciated.

Bog standard KYB shocker. You need self levelling shocks & springs. Shocks are obtainable only from VX, and suspension parts should always be changed in pairs

Bog standard KYB shocker. You need self levelling shocks & springs. Shocks are obtainable only from VX, and suspension parts should always be changed in pairs
Can the bog standard ones be used still be used though or will I need to put the self levelling on

Always change suspension parts in axle pairs. All Elites have self levelling suspension. The wire you refer to is an air line from the pump in the drivers side front wing.
If self levelling works, you need to fit like for like shocks as the self levelling shocks have air bladders that support the springs. Elite springs are too soft for standard shocks.
So, fit new self levelling shocks from vx only.
Or, fit stock shocks, but these must have stock springs to match or the car will wallow like a drunken hippo dragging its arse on the floor.

Well thanks for the input have to return the shock tomorrow you say that a stock shock and springs can be used any advice on which ones to use

I wouldn't go any cheaper than GM personally. I guess the best way forward would be to ring Andyc at drive(see recomended suppliers) with your reg and set what's cheapest he can do trade club prices. I wonder if SL shocks would be cheaper than standard shocks AND springs.
Although KYB are plenty good enough for standard shocks and springs.

£75 a side for SL shocks on TC, IIRC? Which isn't all that expensive, really.
