Title: Crank case sensor

Hi everyone,

Ive just been told by the AA man that my crank sensor has failed.

I had to call them to have a look at the car as it wont start, the engine turns over but it just doesnt start.

He wasnt entirely sure what was up with car but stated that its most likely that the crank sensor has failed so not allowing the engine to start.

Is this an accurate diagnosis?? He actually only spent around 10mins looking around the car and seemed pretty baffled.

Where is this sensor located and how easy is it to replace?

3.2 v6 auto elite estate. '51 plate

You need to do a 'pedal trick', that'll give you any codes that the car is complaining of.
The crank sensor is just next to the oil filter.  :y

The aa man did attach a computer to the car but he said that nothing specific was coming up, his hunch was that the crank sensor had gone.....

Sorry but what is the pedal trick?

Mine did the same recently - no codes but just cranking without firing. Replaced the crank sensor et viola, she fired straight up.

The wifes Omega just started playing up when starting, so I've ordered a Crank sensor from the Stealers to arrive monday, I think he said £58 + vat, took the advice off others on here not to bother with an aftermarket sensor.
