Saw one at Farnborough a couple of years ago, and was fortunate enough to be in the right place when it started its' take off run.. All that air cooled horsepower :D. Sounds like a Hell's Angel's funeral. :-*

Brilliant. This bought back memories.

I flew in one of these as a passenger back in 1964 (aged 11) going from Le Guardia to Rochester in New York State.

I did not know much about flying and three days before we had flown over from London on a Boeing 707 which was my first flight.  I thought that the DC7 was going to shake itself to pieces when taxiing as there was so much vibration.  When airborne, we got caught in a thundersrtorm which nearly put me off flying for life.

Good to know that it has so many fans. A friend in aviation, a 777 Captain, has watched it three times!. :y

I flew in an RCAF CL28 Argus (based on the Brittannia) which had the same engines as the DC7, the Wright Cyclone R-3350 turbo compound radial. They were not a quiet engine! :y

i have flown in a DC7....it is like being flown in a tin bath... :y
