Title: 2.5td intercooler help
Post by: Autographix NI on 14 April 2012, 03:49:45
i have a lack of low rpm power & loud sound of air escaping, i know its not the turbo as once it gets on boost the lack of power is not as bad so i presume i have intercooler or pipework issues , i would also like to change the twin intercooler set up if thats what it is , whilst changing bits myself i think i seen 2 intercoolers one infront of each front wheel am i correct? can anyone provide a diagram of the intercooler pipework on this car , also suggestions for what car/van to scavenge a suitable cooler from that will fit in the limited space i have. i have 3 coolers here i picked for very little but none are ideal

nearly right!!
drivers side is intercooler, passenger side is oil cooler, easy way is to unbolt the bumper then you can see the intercooler, 3 boltsd hold it on, and the two pipes of course, you will need to remove these, then unbolt I.C. take it off free offf fan, with a seperate 12v supply, when its running free, clean I.C.INTERNALLY and externally, clar out the fins etc also check the rubber trunking isnt blocked with debris, and stuff when its all clean, check the fins for damage etc, if you have a compressor or access to one you can pressurise the I.C. to make sure you havent a leak, if its all good look elsewhere for the leak, be warned though low down power isnt great till it hits 1500rpm and the boost starts! :y
