Hi guys. We are thinking about holidaying in Wales near the end of may this year, and as I have never set foot there I wondered if anyone could help.
We are ideally looking to rent a cottage, near the coast, but not too remote. Close to shopping/ pubs/ restaurants.
We met a lovely couple from Carmarthen in Spain last year so somewhere not too far away from there would be good. Although we are considering all over.
Anything at all would be helpful really.
We will have our dog with us so if anyone has ever done this kind of holiday and has any recommendations please let me know.
Thanks in advance, cam. :y

Tenby,is my number one resort,it has everything that you might want for a great holiday, dogs arn't allowed on the main beaches but they are allowed on the beach on which the trip boats use.
Hope this helps.
Alfie,

If you like nice countryside Touring North Wales is great
We always finish up at Colwyn Bay as a coastal base
Theres Conwy an ancient historic town with castle near to hand
Also Rhyll a seasde resort for the kids
A few miles up the coast LLandudno rather classy and good for shopping
A few miles inland some great tours round Snowdonia
Some nice single cariageway touring roads Miggy loves them
Just make sure you have a Sat Nav with speed camera warning
Cops are a bit keen they got me on a speed awareness course here in Leeds
Winifred and I love it have had a few weeks every year for the past 6
And also years back with our kids :y :y

far end of the Lleyn peninsular , or Anglesey
or the far end of Gower,
basically the bits that stick out west beyond the mountains tend to have the best weather....
simple reason, the mountains push the wet air coming in off the sea up... and THEN it dumps it's rain load on the mountains and everythin g around and east of them...
if you get out west, far enough in front of them, then you'll tend to have better weather.
i basically grew up at the far end of the Lleyn, and unlike Rhod Gilbert, i do NOT have webbed fingers....

(oh, and i lived in colwyn bay for 10 years.,... ) honestly, go down the Lleyn. or head over to west/south cost anglesey.... Treadur Bay is pretty good.

I live in colwyn bay now. If you like scenery then North Wales is defo the place. Anglesey has some great places and you could drive around the island. Again Llandudno has the great orme with Victorian trams and cable cars. Plus a fantastic Victorian pier as well as a good shopping centre. Take a drive down to betws y coed through the national park with amazing driving roads, and lots of scenery. All depends on what you like doing :)

I have had holidays in North and South Wales, and the bit in between. If you get a map of Wales and stick a pin in it and go there I can
almost guarantee you won't be disappointed, just take a good waterproof with you, though when the sun shines :y :y

And neighbouring Saundersfoot's nice too.
However, unspoilt Gower is our preference! :y :y :y :y :y

The Elan Valley and surrounding areas are stunning. I can recommend Elen's Castle in Dolwyddelan...
