...a Boeing 787 taking off from Luton as I approached on the M1.
Beautiful looking aircraft - the uplifted wing tips give it a very sleek appearance. :y :y
...Just off to get my anorak. ;)

Yes, indeed. I knew it had arrived at Heathrow on Sunday, but I was still surprised to see it leaving Luton at noon today! :o
Thanks for the link! :y

Shhhh, don't tell Airbus that its the most subsidised aircraft in history ;)
Boeing could never have built it if it wasn't for the US goverment pumping money into it.
Airbus had caught the yanks and had overtaken them in the civvy aircraft market.
If it hadn't been bankrolled be the american tax payer, the good old US of A would have had to have bought European ;)
Now uncle sam would never let that happen >:(

Yes, would that I could have beheld that sight; the wing design - to me at least - is elegance personified. :-* :-*

Yes, but, the WTO had already ruled that Airbus had received illegal subsidies! They're all at it.
Whatever, the 787 is a whole lot nicer looking than the A380 which is a real ugly duckling. ;) ;D

True enough We use a chevy 502 to launch 500kg gliders, after all. Then again, I guess it'd need to be sizeable simply to remain on the ground!

I can see it now..
"This is the captain speaking. The flight crew regretfully informs you that flight 49 from London to Seattle will be landing in Greenland today as we've been unable to find sufficient thermals to keep us airborne."
