Was taken a back to hear the estate failed it's MOT;
- this is a pretty tidy car that doesn't want for too much.
Sure there will be maintenance/routine replacement of parts but I knew of nothing pending (unless those w/bones, but they rarely fail a mot).
Equally surprised to confirm it passed next test after they'd sorted the issue (standing instructions on my cars - if simple/quick/cheap fix it, because I don't really want to have to take it back).
HIDs without washers - not mentioned.
No air freshensers anywhere (although a nearby station was offering a pre-mot with free freshener!!!)
Cleaned & tidy. No warnings up at all.
Forgot to check the tyre presures - but it wasn't that.
Anyone care to guess what the refusal sheet says ?

Only if it clearly shows her being shot in the head by somebody from the sane brigade.

Nope on all accounts.
Yes, I've come across the orangeness before.
Inc. towbar (& electrics - 7p so I don't think they test those but there's a buzzer AND a light so that'd be okay).
(Front) sidelights incorrect colour.
"Someone" of otherwise quite trustworthy and of decent standing (well, I assume it was he) fitted blue wedgies in the lights. Now I always disliked the bulbs but hadn't realised they were blue, I just found them a very white light (blue filters working) but somewhat dim (not coloured light or anything) - even checked them on the morning of the mot (checked for working that is - I'd hate to fail on something so simple a sidelight, so I failed on two!)
Grrr.
8-9-10 there I feel the same.
-
Had them on my old astra 6 months ago and it passed :)
No advisories .
-
as long as they show white light they are legal acording to the vosa rule book they can be any color as long as they shine white light
-
I was surprised, after all whilst dim they did shine white. But now they are out I can see they definately look blue.
Either way, a refusal is a refusal (1.1.a.3e quoted - twice).
He did replace them with new ones, and did give it a pass second go (right).
And he does seem to have taken less time to do two mots and changes two bulbs than I did replacing one n/s sidelight a few years ago!
So it is like a result - just in a roundabout sort of way.

Unless things have just changed, your tester is using a different rule book from mine. I fitted led side lights to her Smart on the basis they're a tw@ to change, but was then a little disapointed that they appear more blue than the white that I'd expected. During MOT I pointed them out to my tester, his reply was that side lights were OK showing not white and he was only concerned with blue headlights. :-\ :-\
