Title: Insignia wireless
Post by: TheBoy on 25 April 2012, 21:04:02
Remind me, what range does it take? Seem to recall an angled dash, but was specifically thinking if a CD70 would fit, temporarily ::)

No chance!

CD300, CD400 etc.

There a two piece thing i.e. seperate front panel (which includes climate etc?) and metal box with stereo functions sat behind

From my vague recollections, I had a feeling I was peeing in the wind, but thought I'd ask.

I'll have to buy a TomTom then, as my last one is somewhere at the end of the Aston Expressway.

Yes, Insignia and Astra J are a GIT to do anything with (as no programming tools yet let you change programming configs) unless you get Vx to issue a VCI

That was going to be my next question - if I could steal a MDI for the day, what could I enable.  I guess sod all without Luton saying so  :'(

Not sure I've been in there since your were last over...  ...might have snuck in a quick one with gayboy when we did his exhaust (can't remember, had to pop some pills, so probably in ga-ga land).

Yup, but like all Smartphones, the GPS receiver isn't brilliant.  Still got my old iPaq, but think the last set of maps I have for that are quite old.

I also have a TT with full western europe maps/speed camera warnings/screen mount you can borrow if required ... its a TT700 so no "live" inputs but works very well. OS is the latest 9.430, maps WE 885.4009 ( a month old . :)  )

Shout out if needed :)

EDIT .. I guess we now know which motor is going to France .... poor TBE left behind again ...  :(

Changes to the law in France

Since decree n°2012-3 was introduced on 3 January 2012 it has been illegal to be warned about the position of fixed or mobile speed cameras while you are driving in France. If your TomTom navigation device has the Speed Camera service and you continue to use the service, you risk a fine of up to €1500.

It is quite legal to have the "danger area" warnings in France .. just not specific camera sites. A "danger area" may be up to a kilometer long and may contain a speed camera or other danger.

OS 9.430 is designed to use the new "danger area" POI's from TT. Although I've not been to France to actually test it, running a dummy route it seems to work OK.

There is also a legal point discussed on some sites. French police have no legal right to check your TT, so if you get stopped just pull the power, they cannot demand you turn it on for checking..... or so I am told ....  again .. not checked .. and no wish to have that conversation with monseuir le gendarme   :)

As we all know if Groomer likes something its instantly gay... which is worrying. Very worrying.

Nope, you don't get it, do you.  That's not always true.

Exhibit A, for the defense:
The Golden Nugget. Or 'Champayne' as Vauxhall call it.
That was a very gay car. Even called a gay colour. Champayne. Gay though it was, I didn't like it.

Exhibit B, for the defense:
The gayest Omega I have ever seen. Not mine, fortunately. No pics, as my anti-malware image checker has deleted them all.  Colour: "Oyster". And you thought Champayne was a gay name. Didn't like that one much either ;D

Good point. Another case for the defence.

Star Silver with dark interior. Manly. Yet I like those. So, not everything I like is gay, and not everything I dislike is non-gay

Ok. I hav'nt read All the posts, just the first page as it's too tekkie for my feeble luddite mind but has Jaime bought an Insignia? :o I promised him some time ago i'd keep my gob shut regarding my opinions on satnaffs so will adhere to that suffice to say i too have a gay list...(agree with you on the sneezing once thing, that is gay). If i were to spend money on an Insignia i'd worry that it would age like an old Vectra or Mondeo not have the lasting love & character the Migs do.

At the time, I didn't know if I was gonna fix it, thus wanted to obey the 50mph limit.

Note, I only had to say it once, as it took your shitbox about 3 miles to get up to 50mph ;D
