Title: Would this CID work?
Post by: doz on 26 April 2012, 18:53:25
If I was to buy this set up would the screen work with a 2011? I know I'd have to put the units into service mode more worried about physically fitting and wiring

Without the original pairing code, you cannot depair it.

Understand that but trying to work out if it's physically possible to use with 2011

2011 was never fitted to an Omega. Sure its a 2011 ;)

CID is electrically compatible.  But I'll emphasise again, if not in delivery mode, its a brick.

Not a UK retail Omega but were fitted to other European Omega's.

Yes you can.

A customer of mine purchased a replacement stereo (just H.U. no screen) from fleabay for his 2007 Zafira, the stereo was not 'divorced' from the original car/screen but I was able to find a local Chap who has the equipment and skills necessary to enable installation......

Yes, they can be depaired, just not economically viable for most repairers to do it these days due to cost of equipment Vs how many are now out there 20 years on.

I charged £40 for fitting the stereo AND arranging the de-coding....

I was talking in laymans terms here. I can decode them, as most people know.  But I won't unless its a complete system, as the potential cost of damage far outweighs anything else (I decode the original code, then depair correctly).  Be aware, it seems to be  becoming apparent than reprogramming via flashing only works if you have the flash from the identical CID (there are several variants, not just as suggested by the ident code)

Somewhere, I have a stack of knackered CIDs due to decoding...

Cool, it's just that reading your first two posts makes it seem that it is impossible to divorce screens from stereos, I didn't want the o.p. to waste his money unnecessarily, thats all...

The Chap who sorted the stereo in my Customers car never mentioned any risks regarding damaging or breaking anything... Perhaps he is more experienced than you?

Quite possibly, and hopefully a proper workstation. But to reflash, the flash has to be lifted, and then resoldered. This will always weaken the tracks. Which is the problem I had.

Unless he has reverse engineered parts, he'll be reflashing. Be aware, as said previously, it seems the delivery mode images vary between the different types.

I go for the proper decode, finding out the code, then depairing the entire system correctly via Tech2.  So I could depair that ebay link, repair back to ops NCDC201x, repair the Vectra-B stuff with a known code so he could resell. *BUT* the postage costs would make it unfeasible IMHO.  You'd have to *really* want a CID over a GID for that. And lets face it, GIDs are better than CIDs ;D

Should add, the reason for emphasising it would be a brick is so many people thing they can just take it to a dealer and get them to fix it. They can't.
