sounds like an elite, what year is it?

If it is a late pre facelift or early facelift (99-00) and is an elite then so long is everything else is in order.

I would be cheeky and start at a grand and work up from there  :y

Is it a 98 model year (solid headrests, audio controls on steering wheel etc) - these are a better car than 97 model year cars.

Yes it has the solid headrests although i think the hollow ones look a lot better!! It also has controls on the steering wheel. Is this a good thing?

Yes, that is known as mini facelift (1998 and 1999 cars).  Its a better car than the earlier ones in that it has:

Bose audio
HID (xenon) headlights
Audio controls on wheel
Better (and more reliable!) trip computer/MID
Flashable gearbox ECU if its an auto
Engine improvements
Side airbags

and so on

I agree, I think £1200 is towards the top end of its value, but at this end of the market, condition is what decides value :)

Shame yours is a 97 model (presumably - is last letter of VIN a V?), as the 1998s had much better headlights, side airbags, bose, and flashable gearbox ecus on autos, all well worth having imho.

Dont think this one had that just looked like normal stereo with 6disc changer in the back. Didnt all the elites have the wiring done ready for phone kit if needed???
