Title: ABS card
Post by: bighed on 03 April 2008, 21:02:47
Went to my local vauxhall dealer today (Evans Halshaw) for quote on some parts. I told them Im going to join ABS so will get a membership card and asked about discount on parts. They said they had never even heard of them so no go on discount.  :'(

The letter you get from ABS with the card tells you exactly how to "correct" their mistake ... politely  :)

They probably haven't heard of Autobahnstormers, but the card has a valid TC number on it, so if your dealer partakes in TC, they will honour it (they may have to ring someone for confirmation).

my local vx dealer does not participate in the trade club scheme, however, their sister branch 15 miles up the road does. so i phone through my order at the sister branch and then they drive it to the local dealer for me to collect. it sounds illogical but im sure theres sense in there somewhere.

Some dealers don't subscribe to any t.c discounts if they dont just ring round and find one that does :y

My dealer aren't set up for ABS cards but insist on putting everything on the Mig Performance Vauxhall number. Makes no odds to me.

I have just applied for a propper tc card at my local dealer, and in the mean time i have used other garages details to get tc prices.[ The parts man did this not me] but i have seen him on the screen scroll down to all the registerd tc members untill he finds the one he wants to use, so they should be able find them if he could be botherd. ::)

ABS one is yellow with Autobahnstomers written on it, with a sticker on it giving TC details and expirty.  Other clubs may be different.  AFAIK, VxON's is still transparent and (as we say in the IT industry) like Vapourware.

Genuine is silver with red Griffin, and member details printed on it.

He does the whole range, not just small bits, including stuff that Vx list as not available in UK  :)

He got me a wiring loom from germany within a week  :)

I only said small bits as they can go mail order to anywhere- I'm close enough for the delivery van, so 4 for 3 on oil wasn't a problem  :)
