One like this has been my "next car" since i sold the Beastie...for me no other Mig could replace her. I could go out tomorrow, pay a deposit & finance one but within a year or two i can buy one outright. This one seems to be a baby & if the history & mileage all checked out i'd start with a low offer of 8k but be prepared to go up to £9500...£9000 would be better. Much as we love 'em they are pitched at a limited market. I can handle the fuel/ins. costs but does anyone know any places that can be trusted to service & repair them when needed?

There's very little servicing involved afaict. Oil, filters and plugs(50k?). That's it. And plugs are pess easy to get to.

Cam chain is as short as it's possible to be, so very little can go wrong with it.

The main question seems to be where to tune it. Monkfish have all those answers amd more it seems.

They appear to be as bullet proof as an engine ever gets. There was a discussion on pistonheads re reliability. Only one guy had an issue, where it hand grenaded messing about on a runway. It was later suggested, as it was an auto, that while doing 150mph, reverse may have accidentally been selected. (http://www.audi-tt.ru/forum/phpBB2/images/smiles/facepalm.gif)

Bullet proof is what you need to hear , its on my list of wanted cars but will still keep the elite as a runaround  ;D

Monaro's are getting cheaper all the time....less that 10k if you shop around...wonder if it's got anything to do with the price of fuel ?

Undoubtedly, although there's no shortage of demand for any car with an Ls engine. They do depreciate too.

Thing is, the ls1 seems to be worth 4k all day long to car enthusiasts. Add on gear box and relevant drive train and aux parts. The car will never fall below the value of those parts. Even if crash damaged/cat b written off.

Both very nice cars to consider  :y Very omega ish styling which i like ...considerable less cash for those last 2 and well worth the money .

Like the blue one , very similar to the colour of the elite .

Having been in 2woodys with ap brakes, the engine and braking performance completely ignore the weight of the car. Impressive. Handling ain't bad either. ;D

you're not going to beat that price, and a nice colour, too.

plus it's got the proper brakes, which is good as the standard ones are probably the only brakes I've tried which are worse than Omega

It's on Autotrader at the same price.  Methinks the seller doesn't quite get the idea of an auction!  ::)

On the silver one he quotes

these cars can rust badly, but this one is OK
???

Something to look out for , i guess just the run of the mill rusting for a car of that age underneath similar to the omegas  :-\
