You just couldn't make it up. ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D

Love it. ;D ;D ;D ;D

We're going round and round in circles.......just like the turbines ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

Based on today we clearly need to build more in the UK.. ;D

However the government will ignore the findings of this report and still continue unrelenting on commissioning more and more wind farms to appease the european community directive on renuables even though wind farms are a commercial disaster

They only listen to their own ar$holes and never to reason >:(

Did anyone actually READ the article ??? If you ignore the stupidity of the headline .. you will, eventually find this ...
However Prof Zhou pointed out the most extreme changes were just at night and the overall changes may be smaller.
Also, it is much smaller than the estimated change caused by other factors such as man made global warming.
“Overall, the warming effect reported in this study is local and is small compared to the strong background year-to-year land surface temperature changes,” he added.
All aboard the Outrage Bus .. ding ding .. fares please ... no sir .. truth and reality never needed on here :)

Any "fact" can be found (or simply made up, as on question time last) to support any argument an individual wants to put forward. Why bother? ;D

Of course I read the article. However, "year-to-year land surface temperature" data is largely based on local readings anyway! Nevertheless, the whole point of the article highlights the stupidity of wind farms. They have only grown in popularity due to vast subsidies and the green activists' claim that they will save the planet by reducing temperature. Highly ironic, therefore, that they appear to screw things up, albeit at a local level. ;) ;D ;D

Let's face it the world is gonna change what ever we do. Anything we try will have consequences. So I suggest we go with my Plan A and just enjoy the ride. Plan B involves the culling of 3 billion people. ::) ::)

I think it prudent to have a mix in the means used for energy generation and who knows, wind generation may well pay a useful part in that overall strategy - some day
The only thing is of course – if this is such a good idea and the technology so able to make a contribution to the alternate generation bouquet - then why are the energy providers not funding it from their own R/D – new-build budgets?
I suppose the doe-eyed amongst us will, at some stage, have second thoughts when all this has to be paid for through a continuing levy placed on our already substantial energy bills.
Own-goal, shooting one’s self in the foot, arrogance, rank stupidity, wilfulness, vested interest and a desire by successive politicians to grub around for a legacy after they have been forgotten and have hauled their fat arses (and even fatter heads) off into a well-pensioned political oblivion would seem to be an appropriate view of this national disgrace.
Forget Europe – we are being oppsed over by the shits in Westminster.

"....that is now covered by four of the world's largest wind farms, found that over a decade the local temperature went up by almost 1C as more turbines are built.
This could have long term effects on wildlife living in the immediate areas of larger wind farms.""
As quoted from article. ALMOST 1 deg C in a decade!! Christ alive, that will kill all wildlife in a 500 km radius instantly won't it? Bearing in mind of course we're talking about the world's largest wind farms. Jesus Christ, this hyped up load of shite, just like so many others, give me the sh*ts.
Btw, well said Entwood

Aah, there you are V6, a fine illustration of how the reach of those in Westminster is great - you have my sympathy. :-* :-* :y

Well luckily the windfarms in the UK won't have been causing any climate change in the last couple of days because they will have been all shut down because........ it's been too windy!!!! :D ;D
Which would be funny if weren't for the fact that the windfarm operators get compensated in such circumstances by the taxpayer.... >:(

Why the surprise? All dynamic systems will have secondary effects. 2 million years ago CO2 levels were double what they are now and Anartictica was quite a warm place with plants growing on it, no humans around to change this climate to the current cold phase the Earth is going through, with very damaging ice ages. What cardigan covered, sandal wearing, bearded eco-zealots (and that's just the women ;D) fail to make a case for is that climate change is anymore that an unproven hypothesis, based on very flawed data, assumptions and calculations, which will produce results even less likely that long term weather forecasts (remember the bbq summer!). ::) ::)
We get all of the alarm stories about how awful global warming will be with famines etc, but how do we know it won't actually be better?
Wind farms have very limited use as they can't provide a constant base load, so as more are used, you have to have more and more power stations online to cover the fluctuations in the power generated by wind. Thereby, driving down the efficiency of gas / coal powered stations. Imagine having your car running on tick over 24 hours a day, in case you need to use it, it would be great for your fuel consumption. :o :o :o :o The windmills also only typically produce about 30% of the power that they are rated to produce.
Not withstanding this they could have limited uses like pumping water from one part of the country to the other, or used with hydro-electric schemes, by pumping water uphill into the water reservoir for the constant generation of power.
If LibCons were serious about energy security they would instead be using the windmill subsidies to build thorium nuclear power stations, buy we know that won't happen as most of the Libs and many of the Cons wear cardigans and sandals. >:( >:( >:(

Spot on, as usual Rods! :y :y
