Brake switch, Bowden cable, stalk

If it was working, then what RobG says. If this is an upgrade, could be a few things, usually around incorrect fitting.

Can you confirm first of all that the CC was factory fitted as standard?
As Rob says, check for physical issues or damage, etc first - brake switch and cable (presuming it's not DBW?).
I guess there may be some sort of electrical wizardry which could detect faults, but it may also be worth considering borrowing a known working stalk and swapping them over, to at least eliminate that too  :y

Its factory fitted...Is the brake switch under the pedal?...Rew.

A decent code reader is the best way to tackle this - read the Cruise ECU and watch live data.

Actually, as RobG says, ensure Bowden cable isn't seized or snapped
