1, Anyone on here use a 2.2 for towing a caravan ?
2. Any mods required eg oil cooler etc?

But is yours an auto Rolf?

what axale type you getting on caravan.
-
Probably only a single axle type ,

ive towed with both omegas and tbh the v6 was superb but the 2.2 was faultless.both were autos and both did the job perfectly, ive said on here before if you look at the bhp figures of the v6 and the 2.2 its not a massive difference and the 2.2 is no slouch once you get the revs up

Thanks for the replies, so looks like a caravan soon then! The Granada auto blew a gearbox oil seal when driving down to Devon, turned the journey into a nightmare, apparently this was a common problem with them .

Hi Tilbo,
Used to have Omega 3.0 litre V6 Elite estate - towed like a dream a single axle 1450kg caravan (4 berth) but changed it for a 2003 2.2 litre Diesel estate Dti which also tows the caravan effortlessly - and not so thirsty! Unfortunately I'm now trying to sort out an intermittant EGR valve problem (I think) with it, see here:

hopefully can get it sorted and I'll be happy again. Chris

I also blew a gearbox seal on a granada auto whilst towing, fitted an aux cooler and had no further problems.
Since then have towed for 9 years with omegas, the 2.5 for 5 years and this 3.2 for 4, both autos and absolutely no problem whatsoever. The "built in" gearbox oil cooler is easily sufficient.
I tow a 1600 Kg 'van a lot ... including yearly trips to France, gearbox has always been sweet .. :)
3.2 is a tad thirsty when towing, especially when moving at a decent speed ( :) ) but the LPG conversion has made that very reasonable .. :)
IMHO the 3.2 Omega is the best towcar I've had in 25 years of towing .. :y :y :y :y

Thanks guys, all sounds very positive, trailer tent has been good fun but this weather & your replies has made the change back to a van definite!
