Title: New owner made a mistake
Post by: GM4life on 06 May 2012, 08:45:31
Hello. I'm a new owner of a Omega 2.0 16V. I made the mistake of washing my engine bay with the battery connected after performing a oil and spark plug change. I fired the car up now I got a check engine light. I jumpered the ECU and now I got a P0500 and P0340. Is it possable I messed up the ECU? The car seems to run fine until I try to accelerate past 40mph and it just hits the rev limit. Any advice?

could be crankshaft sensor connector has water init, spray electrical connections with wd40 or similiar and leave bonnet open to let it all dry out for a few hours,i jet washed my vans engine bay last year and it then lit the dashboard up with all the warning lamps,it sorted it self out next day :y

P0500 is Vehicle Speed Sensor and P0340 is Cam Position Sensor.

As Martin has said, it'll most likely sort itself out once it dries.
