Title: Lying miles remaining
Post by: Martin_1962 on 27 October 2006, 21:00:41
Had the 30 mile warning this morning. At work 16 miles and at home it says 4 miles, but I still have 1 1/4 gallons left!

Silly car!

I thought it used fuel remaining and average consumption. As it stays at 90 miles for weeks

Could your gas conversion be confusing it?

Mine stays in the low hundreds (can't remember offhand) & then suddenly drops to somewhere in the sixties

Sounds like it needs re-calibrating. A job that is done with...Tech II.

I am sure Jaime can give a very reasonable price. :)

Strange really been correct since the install until I have under a couple of gallons (petrol) left, first thought was a leak, or not being switched off, but still doing my 1/2 litre a day for start ups.

So I now have around 1.5 gallons and a 5 mile range!!!!

Will be funny as I need to get gas in morning, then the butchers and not going to Tesco unitll afternoon I reckon 20 miles on.

I'll post what it does as it gets there!

My 99 Elite's computer isn't far off the mark. The other day I ran the car until it said 4 miles to go, the low fuel warning was that low it had started to flash at me, and so when I filled it to the top I managed to get just over 70 litres in. By my reckoning that left a gallon or so in the tank.

My low fuel light came on and it said i had 47 miles left. Bet i would have stopped before that.

I had mine down to 6 miles remaining once.  Never again!

I find my gauge pretty inaccurate when its below 1/4 full.....sometimes i can startup and the gauge doesnt move and light flashes but the comp doesnt warn me im low on fuel, I guess its gets it info from a different sensor.....or ive got a fault in the instrument cluster.

Even if the comp did get down to 0 miles to go.....i bet theres nearly a gallon left, as a 'reserve'.

Right who wants to see how far you can go after the comp says 0 miles left?  ;D

When I was down to '4 miles left' I was tempted to drive around Tesco's car park till it ran out of miles to go. I'd just finished a night shift and could face the prospect of pushing the car in the piddling rain!  ;D

It's never good to know exactly how much range you have left, as you start to get lulled into a false sense of security.

I always try to keep mine about 1/2 full (empty?) to avoid lugging excessive fuel and ruining the otherwise crisp and precise handling and keeping my 0-60 times below 25 seconds.

Well it hit 0 on the way to fill up and I have done 25 miles since reading 0.

Got to admit I am idling to switch over and will be sticking £20 of petrol in tomorrow
