Heres a few pictures of my car, one of a pair I purchased from fleabay a month ago.
It was purchased at a knock down price due to a "head gasket fault" but when I arrived down in Kent to collect the vehicle the chap who was selling it
mentioned that he thought a coolant pipe had split on the back of the engine, he even mentioned it was connected to a valve for the heater matrix and he
said he had cut the pipe to repair the split and reconnected it, but it was still using coolant and steaming from under the bonnet. Plus I noticed that
the windscreen and side windows would steam up quite badly if the windows were shut. Also there was quite a bad build up of emulsified oil and water in
the oil filler tube so I reckon these three things led the previous owner to the conclusion there were serious issues with the cooling system.
The car drove back from Kent without issue and we stopped once en-route to check the coolant level but it hadnt dropped at all, I discovered over the next few
days that the leak only seemed to happen whilst the engine was warming up and once the engine was up to temperature the leak stopped. As soon as I had the time
I stripped down the scuttle to access the h.b.v. the pipe that had been repaired still looked sound and I was expecting to see some sort of residue from the
coolant leak either a white crystal formation or possibly rusty water marks but everything looked fine. I disconnected the pipes from the h.b.v. and pulled it
out for a closer look...

...you can just make out that the casing is split where the lower pipe attaches.
I also discovered why the interior was so prone to misting up, the pollen filter was clogged.
My local Vauxhall Dealer charged £40.18 inclusive for the by-pass valve (90566947) and £13.28 for the pollen filter (93165208).
Another issue I noticed with the car was the brakes, although they did manage to pull the car up to a halt quickly the pedal travel was excessive,
also there was no feel to the pedal either. I didn't really think there was too much of a problem with them for the first three weeks that I had the car
but looking back now I realize that that was due to the weather, it had rained virtually every day since I had got the car and that meant lots of opportunity
to perfect my 'low speed vehicle handling techniques', but as soon as the rain stoped then the drier road conditions allowed for slightly higher speeds which
showed up a minor problem. The brakes stopped working if you used them hard more than three times in a row! I checked the brake fluid and it was just a little
below the maximum mark but it was virtually black in colour, obviously in need of a flush. I do have an 'eezi bleed' kit but it's quite old and when I connected
it up for a dry run it became apparent that some of the pipework had perished so I had to resort to just a quick bleed, rather than a full flush, even so I
managed to get 1/2 a litre of fresh dot 4 in and that seems to have fixed the brake fade issue. Pedal travel and feel have also improved greatly but I still intend
to fully flush out the system once I've found some tubing to refurb my eezi bleed.

The only other problems I've noticed with the car is there seems to be a.t.f. resting on the upper lip of the sump tray, obviously slight seepage in the power steering
system somewhere, and the air-con isn't as cold as it could be. Other than that EVERYTHING works, and this car has a lot of everythings, I won't bore you with a list
but this car has everything an Elite has except for memory seats in the front and heated seats in the rear, oh and no sunroof either. Nice touches are the climate control
system that can supply heat to the cabin without the keys in the ignition, and the chilled glove box that seems to work even when the heaters are on full.
In the month that I've had the vehicle I've added an extra 1850 miles to the 167,000 that were already showing, in fact I've done 943 miles just this last week,
including a trip to Ireland to collect a friends new Subaru and a trip to Wales to see family. The car has used 169 litres of fuel
to do the 943 miles which works out at £250 (£1.48 per litre) or 25 m.p.g. Not too bad considering the way in which it gets (ab)used!
Apparently the car was owned by a Vx. dealership in Cambridgeshire for the first six months of it's life and I am only the fourth owner (3 former keepers) on the
log book, you can tell the vehicle has been well cared for and this is backed up by the extensive service history, it even has every tax disc ever put on the vehicle
from new! The car is an absolute joy to drive and you could easily believe it had done only 70,000 miles, not nearer to 170,000! Interior wear is also minimal but I am considering changing over the drivers seat from the other Mv6 that I have.

It is also surprisingly agile for such a big car, it makes my old prefacelift Mv6 feel like a boat in comparison, yet it still manages to be very comfortable.

Body work wise things are not too bad either...

I'm not sure the exhaust is to my liking, it needs either a different rear bumper or the one thats on needs modifying slightly.

Apologies for the dirty pictures! I may get around to cleaning it someday...

Full Bose set-up, sounds quite good for a ten year old motor...
No plans to break it yet as I'm enjoying driving it around too much!
I may advertise it for sale once I've given it a good clean, you think £1,750 is too much?
If it was a dark colour with a sunroof and a 3.0 engine then it would already have l.p.g. on it and I would be keeping it.

i went flea too oh no ...we bought the same car

Do you mean we both purchased silver Omega Mv6's? There are lots of them about!
y did u buy 2
I'm a car trader/mobile mechanic so I purchased them to make money on.
They were both VERY inexpensive, it would of been rude not to.
The screen and controller thing you have pointed out allows an ipod music player to be played via the car stereos f.m. receiver...

Very good pics and a great story to read with it ..i enjoyed reading about your car.Thank you for taking the time to share that with us all :y

Just thought I'd post to update on life with my Omega, it's been relatively painless apart from one or two little issues...
I noticed sometime ago that the engine management light wasn't coming on with the ignition, only the engine electronics light (car with spanner) so I thought I'd try 'the pedal trick' to see if any fault codes were stored. I got 0430 and 0420 which are to do with lambdas or cat's not operating correctly and 0650, malfunction of indicator lamp, or usually someones removed the bulb from the dashboard to try and mask the other faults! The car was still driving fine so I didn't feel the need to look into the problems any further.
The next issue was a little more serious as it caused me to break down at the side of the road whilst on the way to collect my Daughter from school, the car had lost all electrical power but luckily I was not too far from the school so I was able to get there on time plus it's only a short walk back home. Once at home I removed the battery from the Omega I still have for breaking and went back to my stranded car and fitted it, I noticed then that the battery light was not coming on but the car started and drove home fine.
I know that on some older cars if the battery light on the dash fails then it can stop the charge from the alternator reaching the battery so, after checking fuses and relays, I stripped the dash to check the light was still intact which it was.
Oh well, at least I knew where to find a replacement alternator, and it wasn't going to cost a fortune either!
I soon managed to unbolt the replacement alternator from the engine block and disconnected the wires but then I realized I wasn't going to be able to free it from the engine bay without first removing the air filter box and variable inlet gubbins.
Also, on refitting I somehow managed to miss the top mounting on the block and when I tightened up the nut and bolt I heard a horrible cracking noise, I thought I'd cracked the alternator casing as it's only cast aluminium which is quite brittle. Luckily I'd only dislodged one of the steel collets that act as guides and spacers for the bolts, I popped it back in and all was well.
My replacement alternator looks almost new, I guess someones not long had it refurb'd...
Whilst I had the dash apart checking the battery light I noticed that the engine management bulb had indeed been removed so I replaced that too. It now operates as it should and goes off after a few seconds once the engine is started. No sign of any emissions related issues now either, seems they have sorted them selves out!
Another problem has been my shiny new Irmscher back box which looked wrong due to it hanging too low. I was able to cut the bumper easily enough so as to allow it to be raised but that caused it to bang and knock on the bumper bracket every now and again which was getting on my nerves.
I decided to remove the bumper to allow me to trim the bracket slightly but then discovered that the rear bumper was held on with 'Tiger Seal' in places! Both the bumper rail and the inner arch liner were damaged on the passenger side.
I replaced the arch liner easily enough but the bumper rail is riveted on so I had to drill them out and then use a few 10.m.m. self tappers (the bolts that hold the front wings on are ideal) in their place.
Whilst the bumper was off I discovered that someone has hacked the foam backing to pieces, I've no idea why but can only assume they became frustrated when fitting the reversing sensors!
The above picture shows how much they trimmed down the foam when compared to the undamaged item below it.
The picture below shows how I removed the sensors one at a time to mark the exact areas to be trimmed.
And this is the bumper about to go back on, note the wires safely taped out of harms way rather than left to trail...
Final picture, all back together with no more knocking and banging, and looking better too!

No other major issues with the car but I am having a few insurance problems, as a result you should expect to see a For Sale ad appearing on the Forum some time soon. And maybe a few pictures added to this thread that show a clean car, for a change...

I'm loving the exhaust,looks superb, :y

I managed to sort out the insurance issues in the end (just incase anyone was worried ;D) and also posted a 'For Sale' ad up...

...but alas, it seems that either my price or perhaps the mileage, is too high!
Much as it grieves me to scrap a perfectly good car I am reliant on the Motor Trade for my main source of income so I have reluctantly decided to break it for parts...

...the tax is up at the end of September which means just four weeks left to enjoy her before she's laid to rest.
I know I'll probably regret typing this but it really has been a pleasure to own this vehicle, over the last few months it has served me and my family well and done everything that I've demanded of it without complaining.
It is still the smoothest and most comfortable car I've ever owned, Unbelievably smooth considering the mileage and a credit to Vx. and it's former keepers.
I think she deserves one last chance to be admired so here are a few pictures of the car looking presentable after she'd had a wash 'n wax.

I've had no real problems with her since the last update other than the rear parking sensors playing up, my first thought (after checking the fuse box and a quick visual inspection of wiring loom) was that the rear bumper was going to have to come off again to check for chafed wires or maybe water getting in somewhere, I couldn't be bothered with that so just disconnected the electronic control box in the boot.
I left it like that for a while but once I'd made the decision to sell her I thought I should investigate the problem further, I still didn't want to remove the back bumper again so started at the control box and worked my way up the wiring loom as far as the plastic trim around the boot catch, once this was removed I discovered another 'fuse' and a connectable link and after fiddling with those it seems like the parking sensors are now working. Result, and there was me doubting my own mechanical skills!
I'd given up checking the oil and water ages ago as there seemed no need but I recently thought I should at least have a looksie, also I'd read somewhere here on the forum about it being "normal for a 2.6 to puff a little blue smoke on start up", I wanted to see for my self so decided to get my camera out to check...
(http://i383.photobucket.com/albums/oo273/brikheadphoto/Videos/th_001.jpg) (http://s383.photobucket.com/albums/oo273/brikheadphoto/Videos/?action=view¤t=001.mp4)
... I noticed that the coolant is a little low but just topped it up with water for now untill I find time to take a closer look, maybe she isn't going to let me use the tax up afterall!
I created a youtube account ages ago and although I'm no film producer I thought I might up load a vid of my Omega...
