Title: Hello from Grimsby
Post by: jonnyboyws6 on 10 May 2012, 10:10:17
Hi I'm new here, but not new to Omegas! Currently have a 3 litre Elite estate and a 2 litre GLS saloon, and have owned 7 others previously, and 3 Senators and a Carlton before that. Have just joined the forum because it's getting harder to find decent second hand parts to keep them on the road.

Wow it's friendly here!

I used to love Senators, my first was a 3.0 12v auto which was absolutely bullet proof. Then I got a minter of a 24v manual (full spec, not police so pretty rare) which had regular engine management tantrums, and when I finally got to the bottom of it all it spat its cam chain. Then I got a tatty ex police 24v manual and swapped all the running gear to make one good one out of the two. Then it needed a serious amount of welding: arches, inner arches, sill ends, rear chassis, and by the time I was finished it was spot on but I was fed up with it and sold it. Fortunately Omega ownership has been much happier.

Hi Geof, will keep my eyes open for you! Mine is a pre-face Elite estate, silver/gold with Irmscher grill and 5 spoke wheels with dark spokes and chrome rims. You will probably hear it before you see it though, the exhaust is blowing pretty badly at the minute...

Also got a silver facelift GLS, but that's off the road just now while I decide if it's worth putting another engine in or just weigh it in.

Thanks for that mate but unfortunately it has to go. I hardly ever use it working in town and my wife won't entertain the idea of saying goodbye to her Mondonkey.
