Title: Soon to be Omega MV6 owner
Post by: IainMcDade on 13 May 2012, 14:34:44
Hey all thought i'd introduce myself. Just officially registered, been trolling as a guest for about 2weeks picking up knowledge on these cars  ;D so now i've done my research and so on i'm getting an Omega MV6. Pickin it up the coming Friday and well excited, though still need to give it a thorough looking over . Silver '03 plate 2.6 automatic with only 68,000 on the clock and nice and clean.
Having only just turned 21 in march there, insurance is surprisingly cheap also! I do plan on modding it, nothing extreme but going to go a mix of "OEM+" and "VIP" style.
So my plans are smoked rear windows, lowered and 18" AMG flatface alloys done a gunmetal grey and a nice subtle sound system (thinkin focal components front and rear and 2 small subs fitted to the parcel shelf area) then silly details like smoked side repeaters, debadge and do the rear griffin same colour as wheels. Dunno bout front grill yet though  :-\ Also don't like the silver/grey trim on the interior of the mv6 (better than the plood mind you  ;)) so going to either paint this gloss black or possibly wrap it.

Got a couple questions to ask also, been searching on here and think i know the answers but it's always best to be sure!

*Does the mv6 sit 15mm lower than a standard omega? Therefore if i purchased 40mm lowering springs for it, in reality i would only see a 25mm drop.
*Can cruise control on the facelift really just be a case of getting the stalk required and gettin tech2? Sounds far to easy!
*Instead of fitting my own sound install, am i as well going for the BOSE system from an elite? I see that there is a lot of folk saying it's great and others saying its gettin on and not as good as modern alternatives. I also beleive it requires a change of head unit also to be compatible. To me it seems alot of effort when i could just stick my own gear in and be done but really want to stick as close to OEM style as possible.

cheers folks, sorry for all the questions and gibbering on  ::)

hi,i have a 2001 2.6 mv6 and it looks low enough without lowering it more, and if fitting 18's make sure you use the correct offset as there is a tendancy to rub on the front shocks iirc  :y
