I have beeb offered a colour display out of a 3.2 Elite, what is involved in swapping the display over and is it worth it? I have digital display in my Elite.

I'm not really very clued up on different displays, but you'll need to provide some more info to allow those who do know to be able to help. Exactly what do you have in your car, and what is the donor? The displays are usually 'paired' to the HU too so you would need to be careful.
Have a search through the maintenance guides and FAQ as I'm sure there is a lot more info available :y

Omega Nige, what stereo have you got in yours? NCDC satnav unit, or ccr2006?
-
Thinking about it, your 3.2 Elite should have come with an NCDC201x, so you need to depair the colour screen from its old car, depair your existing screen from your car, re-pair the colour screnn to your car.

Thanks, mine has an NCDC2013 which is the same as the doner car. Does the dash have to come out to change the display?

You still need to depair and re-pair

Thanks, do you need any kit to do this?

Yup. Its called a Tech2, costs around £3.5k, or about £1.5k 2nd hand.
-
Sounds a lot of effort just for a colour screen, Thanks. :)

Depending where in Oxfordshire you are, you are lucky enough to have 2 Tech2s within driving distance - one on Oxon/Bucks/Northants border, one in north Hampshire.

With the age of the cars I would question whether a second hand colour display is worth it these days. By the time it is depared (your seller's responsibility to do this and retain right to return it if it is not in safe mode) and then repared and fitted you then have to contend with the high chance of pixel failure usually due to dried out joints on pcbs. I have 2 CIDs which I have had to interchange over the years whilst one is being repaired. If you do not do many long distance journeys I would think twice as these units are not robust. Must have had 10 installs of which 3 were due to faulty install first time and say 2 re diagnosis.
Very rarely use sat nav on this car now - nice when it is working but a pain if you get a wrong 'un.
Repair costs range from £80. Guy who does mine is having second thoughts I think as 2 have been returned faulty by me under warranty - he does loads.I have 2 working ones now but would nor dare part with one!!

Got CID's in both Elites and apart from one being slightly dull (age) I haven't had any problems with them. I have a spare panel ready for the day thatone fails though!
Mrs VXL's car has a GID and I really can't get on with it! CID anyday!

I bought another whole Omega just for the CID to get it fitted to my 03 Elite...to me it makes a massive difference to the interface and sat nav system.

Due to what I do, I've seen a fair few faulty CIDs, but won't have necessarily said 'unreliable' TBH...
