After much deliberation - car has been standing for 2 years - I have decided to bite the bullet and put a replacement engine in my 2.5 Elite. I have an engine lined up ready but when I came to push the car out of the garage it wouldn't budge. The handbrake was left off from the start and it is in neutral (auto box). Could the brakes have seized and also how do I check whether the replacement engine is from an auto and not a manual? ???

An auto will have a flex plate instead of a flywheel
If the brakes are stuck on, they might free off with a tow?

I have been looking around the Internet for a picture of a flex plate and one of a flywheel but can't find a flex plate for an Omega. Does anyone have an idea?

I have taken a few pictures of flex plates and posted them on here. I will see if I can find them but not sure I have the phone no how lol.... They are however in the car chat area under either Paul Lovejoy or Trainmanone

Flex plate is much thinner than a flywheel, but if your replacement engine has the wrong type you should be able to reuse your original as I believe the cranks are the same (perhaps someone else can confirm that?)

Yes, engines identical, except manual has spigot bearing on end of crank...
