Title: Just a quickie...plenum removal
Post by: Shackeng on 19 May 2012, 17:35:02
Having a T break while stripping for stat & cambelt change. Am I correct that the scuttle needs to come off for access to the bolts holding the solenoid switch over valve to the rear N/S of the plenum, or is there enough play in the vac pipes and wiring for access when the plenum is loose? TIA :y

I've never removed the scuttle to remove the plenum .... its a tad tight but easily doable with the scuttle in place.

HTH  :)

Don't need to remove scuttle to remove plenum mate.  Enough play in wiring & vac pipes to pull plenum an inch or so forwards to unplug electrics and vac pipe. :y

Remember to refit 'em before finally refitting plenum though ::)

Thanks all, but I found it easier to take it off anyway. The wretched electrical pugs are the most difficult things to remove on these cars, every one has a different form of attachment, and the one on my plenum was stuck fast, and to avoid breaking it I removed the scuttle. :y :y :y

Aye, for the sake of ten minutes fiddling, the improved access is always welcome :y
