You may recall that Ian our eldest got "blown up" by the Taliban in May last year whilst only a couple of days from the end of his deployment in Afghanistan. He has fully recovered from his injuries, but alas his medical situation has a new surprise for us.
Whilst conducting some detailed follow-up tests he has been diagnosed as having a congenital heart condition. This condition can result in the heart suddenly stopping and usually claims its victims from young fit males.
He is having a procedure on friday this week at the QE in Birmingham. It will all be done via probes inserted into various arteries and operated by clever folk under remote control.
So, you never stop worrying about kids - even @ the age of 28 they still manage to find something to stress their parents. The good news is that the recovery time should be quite short due to the non-invasive nature of the prodecure.
Wish us luck guys ..............

I really hope it goes well mate, wish him the best :y. As you said you can never, ever stop worrying about your kids.
-
wishing you all the luck in the world, im sure it will all go well. :y
-
Hope the procedure goes well. My Mum had a similar procedure last year so I know it can be worrying but at least the condition has been picked up in good time before it's had any more serious consequences. :y
-
Modern medicine is fantastic and I'm sure your son will be OK Rob :y But I do wish him well for his recovery
-
Yep, lucky it got picked up, some people just drop dead and then their families find out posthumously that they had a heart defect. Look at Fabrice Muamba, quite a few very fit men have just collapsed for no apparent reason :(
-
Kids ! who'd have 'em ;)
Hope all goes well for him Rob, I'm sure it will but I'll have my fingers crossed anyway :y
-
Wow! I guess you can call it a stroke of luck? Wish him all the best from me and my colleagues ;)

Thanks chaps :y
If you are interested, the condition is called:
Wolff Parkinson White syndrome ......... If you Google it you will get all the info needed - Google also comes up with it as a suggestion as soon as you have typed Wolff .....
The interesting bit is that it's one of so-called the "sudden death" syndromes :o
They haven't actually said that Fabio the footballer had the condition - but I'll lay money that he did.
-
My thoughts are with the lad, Rob. Hope everything goes well.

At the end of the day, they found it and they are going to sort it :)

Wishing your son a successful operation and a full and speedy recovery. :y :y :y
I always joke with my friends that the first 65 years is the worst with children and it is meant to get better after that. ;)
