been offered a couple of 03 vectras both diesel 2.2dti. one is £900 but done 160k and with some service history and the other one needs new head as he put timing chain on wrong or something after hg change got some service history and done 112k and is £500 I know I can get recon head from local firm for £300 so I don't know which on to go for or wait till something else better comes along, thoughts please

Cheap Vectras are common enough that you don't need to piss about with ones with major issues, IMHO.

As long as the first one goes ok and has no turbo issues then it'll be fine. Had one before the Omega and it drove fine and was making more power than standard even after over 200,000 miles. 500ml of 2 stroke oil in the tank every fill up quietens it down a bit and gives the pump a bit more lubrication.

There's an 05 diesel with 70,000 miles up the road from me, 150bhp and a 6 speed box. It has oil in the water and he wants £1100 for it :)

Thats enough if the head is fubar and needs replacing.
