So tonight i Left my Dive club and almost immediatly pissed of an 11' Plate white merc convertible driver, i honestly can't see how but i don't stand for road bullying so when joining the A1 i decided to wind my old girl up im just curious to what speed people have managed without turning their bumholes into rabbits noses :y :y :D :D
-
My 3.0 saloon went past 130 on the Autobahns a few years back ;) Not taken the 3.2 Estate abroad yet so 70-80 :-X ;)
-
Odd you should ask that today, as by coincidence, I took my 3.0 up to around 210kmh (around 130mph) until some wally decided he needs to be the police and pulls into the outside lane (only 2 lanes) to overtake a truck well before he really needs to (in order to slow me down) .... and then the response to my flashing lights .... was a wagging finger, as though to say naughty boy, you should drive that fast. Sod you, it's de-restricted.
-
well i couldnt believe it when my 2.2 DTI!!! managed between 126 - 128 whilst smoking the merc away lol
but i wont be doing that again in a hurry id worried about things falling off or going puff!
::) ::)

Never driven a mig over 100mph
Dont like too much speed on a motorway.
But then again usually don't like to have anyone in front of me on a normal open road :-X
-
You may need to becareful posting silly speeds on an open forum :y

im on about KPH ;)

70mph, obviously, as thats the highest limit in the UK.

Wimp :P

I once did 31 in a 30, I was going sown hill at the time though :D
-
70 + 10% :-X :-X :-X ;)
-
Mine happily sat at 120 on cruise control on an autobahn on the way back from Austria a few years back. Wasn't really safe to stretch it any further due to the number of retards who appear to think it's acceptable to pull out on a car that's closing on them at 60 MPH over there. ::)
So, obviously, it hasn't been stretched any further than that. :-X
-
i done 110 when i first got mine and it felt like 70.....but it was a astra dti i had b4
-
Had a trabant pull out on me on the 61 near koblenz while doing about 125 in my old Re2000 Golf :o :o
Must admit, it scared the sh*t out of me :'( :'(
Had 130 out of my first 2.5 v6 saloon when travelling back on the M62 about 2 am.
And it was still pulling :o

You do realise that you have admitted to breaking the law in public dont you ?
I'll admit to 120 - and had the 3 month disqualification to prove it. Carlton 2.0 GL Estate, July 1989 :'(
-
155mph in the Elite. ::)
-
155mph in the Elite. ::)
Was hissing it down with rain as well, plus it was a side street and uphill at that. Also had TC turned off, sadly when the wheels did grip i realised i wasnt actually moving at 155mph but only 20mph.
-
140mph. :) wheeeze

:-X
-
69.9 mph, better to be safe

;D ;D ;D

150 mph in a 2.5..rebuilt by lo knee :y
-
well to add to the debate
met someone recently who has just bought one of the audi A6 all road jobbies, big estate thing, ugly as sin. anyway he started boasting about speed he can get from it. anyways, got me thinking that I could probably still outrun his barge and so could most on here but mine is almost 10 years older and worth a tiny fraction of his. not going to try it mind but its reassuing having the last laugh.

Do Omega's do over 100 m.p.h.??
Gosh, that is awfully fast...
I once managed a court appearance for doing 100.7 in a Transit!

I've done 160mph in mine. In reverse. With Claire Balding gaffertaped to the roofrack.
Without supporting evidence, it's such an incredibly small chance that they'd bother tracking you down, never mind being able to prove it... especially for such a minor offence as speeding.
I do know of cases where people's forum posts have been used as "evidence of character" in a dangerous driving charge, however, soo... be careful out there!
-
Having had too many 'tighteners' when driving at speed on duty I tend not to bother now - there are too many mouth-breathers out there taking up valuable road space.
Of course it's all relative - 50 mph in an armoured Land Rover on anything but the straightest of roads seems insanely fast, 70 mph in an armoured saloon car like the Omega merely asks for trouble. :-X and trying to drive an unmarked car safely, at speed, through an inner urban environment is only for the brave, the desperate or the foolhardy.
Speed is exciting until some dough-bag wanders across your path while adjusting their make-up, fiddling with a navigation device, eating, reading, talking or scratching their bits - or - while filling the clock in a BMW 2002Tii, a rear tyre decides to fail. :'(

Hit the limiter in 5th in my 3.0 and 3.2 so 150+ ish, needed another gear!
(on a runway obviously... ;) )

Many years ago, I had a fairly highly modified Calibra V6 4x4. Came off a roundabout onto a long, straight bit of dual carriageway that I knew well. Early Saturday morning so no other cars around. Took it up to an indicated 165mph and then lifted off to slow for the next roundabout.
After the roundabout there was a few cars, so I returned to legal speeds. About 2 miles later, a police motorbike pulled me over. He said if I hadn't slowed down he would never have caught me. ::)
Anyway, his system measured my average speed at 137mph, and this was over a stretch after I had started to slow down! :o That earned me a court appearance, a 28 day ban, and a £400 fine!!
Needless to say, my right foot is a lot lighter nowadays! :y

Just found a pic of my first car, a 1602 which was woefully under powered so it was ditched after a short stay in favour of the Tii.

i don't believe you...13mph maybe...lol

I'm a 12 year old kid who can't even drive, but I like making up fictional stories to post on the internet and apparently a 3 litre manual MV6 is good for about 130 in 4th

Nope, sure it was 33mph, although didn't want to my eye off the road and look down at the speedo too much in case I hit something.
;)

Mr Den. The 2002 Tii was considered a respectably quick car back in the early seventies. I believe they pushed out 130 B.H.P.......and probably weighed less than a ton/tonne.
Mrs Opti's 75 B.H.P Corsa 1.2 would probably crush the scales more. :y

There's not really a lot to tell Opti - but I'm sure you'll remember how everything seemed to be much more civilised back then: Fewer cars on the road, cheaper fuel - in fact, the summer weather was so good the very the showers, when they made a welcome appearance, had a delightfully golden hue to them. :-* :-*

An indicated 195 in a rental LP640 sometime in 2007 on this road if I remember correctly:

One hell of a road trip. Roads dont come any straighter than this.

Similarly in the 2.5 manual with 5 adults in. Even on an autobahn at that speed on the bends it was sphincter twitching time.

If it is anything like my brother's Range Rover it has the aerodynamics of a brick and that hits you hard at speed because the resistance builds up as the square of the speed (IIRC.)

Bloody hell, imagine if you did that now! The thought police would probably execute you there and then
Still, you could always lead by example and get your wife to take the hit, whilst lying about it and lording it up over the rest of us
