Ok 2 months ago I sell a set of projector headlights on ebay to this guy...he pays by paypal and receives them special delivery leaving positive feedback...
So 2 months later he says he has had his car MOT'd and the lights are LHD not RHD and the car has failed its MOT on this...I ask him to send the lights back and he says ok he will send them in the box he got his replacement lights in (not given me a chance to send replacements or anything)...
Anyway, true to his word he sends them back...now the lights when they arrive are Depot ones, sent in individual headlight depot boxes with part numbers that exactly match the headlight units in the boxes...then the 2 headlight boxes are packaged in a large depot box containing the two headlight boxes...
Ok, so I have no way of being sure that these arent the lights I sent the guy 2 months ago but...seriously does the guy think I'm stupid??? What seriously are the chances that the lights I sent 2 months ago just happen to exactly match the box part numbers etc and be Depo lights but be LHD (off of a RHD car???)...Personally I think this guy is very much taking the proverbial!!!

Sounds to me like he bought himself some LHD lights by mistake, though $h!t....
Then he had a plan...
He'd find someone he could fool, buy their proper RHD lights, then wait a couple of months and then send them the LHD he had been sitting on from the beginning of the plan.
I would challenge him and say that you have marked your own lights and the mark is not there; you are not obliged to tell him where and what the mark is.

Tell him they are not your lights and you have no intention of giving a refund.
I can't believe you would sell LHD lamps. How would you have got them? They are not exactly common!

Could you find a supplier of depot lights and give them the part number on the boxes and find out if they are left hand ones. The only supplier i know of that do them is euro car parts. Just an idea but it would help you prove hes trying to rip you off.

Nope I now have the lights and his money...be interesting to see what ebay say about it as its over 2 months since he received them and its so dodgy its unbelievable...if the guy had simply sent them back in bubblewrap etc then I would probably have gone for it as I have no way to be absolutely sure...but when he sends them back in the actual Depo boxes with part numbers on the lights exactly matching then its almost too blatent to be believable!!! I'm going see about keeping both...serve the ar*e right!
I'm pretty sure I sent him genuine Vaux headlights...and I'm sticking to that...like the bit about the markings...wondering if I can also find a pic of the genuine headlights I sent out just to back up what I have said...thing is the Depo lights have numbers scrawled all across the glass, I would SO have noticed the difference when I took them off...

Did you put any pics on the ebay add that you can refer back to.?

Sadly, the pics on the ad are of the lights on the car and not high res enough to zoom in on the lights and check...the box has the depo labels on a depo box with part numbers for each light exactly matching the light units in the box...one thing I can check is the light units from the seller of the replacement lights he supposedly bought to replace the ones I sent him...as he bought them on ebay from a company...gonna see if they are depo lights...cos if they arent then its 100% certain hes lying...

surely if they are same part numbers then they will be uk lamps ???? :-?

Yeah I dont get it really...but as far as I can see, the lights in the box have the same part numbers as the box labels...

check his feedback,see if he bought any lights previous to buying yours.. :y

Unfortunately past a certain point it doesnt show what the item is...thought of that...but have emailed the seller of the new lights he bought to see what make they are...if they arent depo then hes most definitely lying...if they are I'm checking the part numbers etc...

I think hes trying to pull a fast one too.......however a lot of ebay sellers mark their stuff with ultraviolet markers or tamperproof labels......so if i was thinking of pulling this trick (not that i would!) i would make damn sure there wasnt any markings on the units......which he may or not have done :-/
Plus what i dont understand if he did buy them in error from a company........why not just send em back :-/ Ok he might have to pay a restocking fee.......but that would be about it i would have thought.
Also why wait 2 months?....... Surely he would have been able to tell the difference without having an MOT???
Theres something not quite right about this......as I said in 1st line......sounds likes hes trying to pull a fast one >:(
Personally i wouldnt say you have marked them......just say they arent the ones you supplied. And see what he says to that.

Personally I find it very hard to believe this guy has been driving around in the UK for the past 2 months with the headlights supposedly pointing directly into the eyes of every passing motorist and not noticed the constant stream of motorists flashing him...
There really is just no excuse for leaving it 2 months before complaining...
Another curious thing...hes used the main headlight bulbs from the lights I supposedly sent him...and replaced them with new bulbs...the why on this is beyond absolutely anything I can even imagine...it makes NO sense at all!!

I have euro lights and you DEFINATELY notice the difference. The deflectors do nothing but stop glaring the other road users so you light picture is poo, esp when going round left hand bends....
If anyone has got euro lights they would like to get rid of I can help over in Germany, squadieshave to buy new headlights all the time when they bring cars over or buy new tax free ones :y :y
