Title: A bit shaky on start-up...
Post by: llewellyn237 on 26 May 2012, 09:00:02
When firing up my 2.2 auto on a morning she judders and shakes a bit, only for a few seconds then all is good.

Any ideas on the cause before it gets worse or turns into something serious?

try cleaning the spark plugs, looking at them before cleaning should help, check and see what colour they are. also could be water/oil in plug wells check and clean out.

Check the plugs and coil pack.

Oil or water around the plugs indicates a leaking camcover (oil) or bonnet seal (water)

If you take the plugs out and just one of the plugs looks as though it has been steam cleaned that would indicate a failing head gasket.

What you don't say is whether this is a recent problem. Cold engines always run a little roughly during warm up while the ECU is chucking extra fuel in. The difficult part is knowing what feels 'normal'.
