Title: Irritating Vx parts screw up
Post by: omegod on 26 May 2012, 20:34:33
Doing discs and pads on my mates corsa 57 1.0  so popped into the local dealer this morning, young chap says whats it for, I tells him but didn't know the reg at the time and he offers the disc and pad combined pack. Got the car tonight and stripped off the solid discs which definately dont match the bloody big vented ones in the pack, not cheap at £122 on trade club either.

Cue me desperately ringing all the local factors and probably Halfrauds in the morning for the right discs and pads as he needs the car back for Monday morning when I will be trying to get my dosh back from Vaux, I doubt this will be straightforward as the packaging has been opened with my mucky hands.  Should not have gone in without the reg but their system has been known to screw up anyway.

Sorry to hear that,

We did the discs and pads on my daughter's 03 corsa, it was something like £50 from Autovaux ???

 EPC is not always correct.

When we get asked by Snapon, yes Snapon the tool people run EPC, if there are any problems with the system i will usually send back a page of problems but nothing ever happens.

Corsas are a problem with brakes and i have had this problem with a trader more than once when EPC has told me the car should have vented brakes and it turns out to be solid, even now on some of the Combo vans we'll send out two maybe three different sets of brake kits so the customer and pick the ones they need.

I'd suggest that you clean everything up as much as possible, take them back with your vehicle details and get them to re-check, but i can't see any reason why they won't take them back as they can always use them via there own workshop, oh and make sure you take your invoice with you

Cheers

Cheers Andy, got some pattern stuff today and managed to complete the job fortunately.

The parts guy mentioned there were some problems with Corsa D brake parts initially due to noise levels and Vaux were trying to claw back the problem solving money through parts sales, hence £122 for a disc and pad set? any truth in this?

TC onlt list disc and pad sets for vented brakes and not solid so that might have been the problem.

Solid disc would have meant buying seperate discs & pads
